Silverlight

If you already have Silverlight installed on your PC/Laptop you can skip to the next section

This web site uses Microsoft’s Silverlight to deliver web content. If you go to the AWAP link below and see something like one of the images below then you need to install the Silverlight plugin…

If you want more information for installing, see this information page…

At various locations of the web site you are given the option to save data into your clipboard. The first time you attempt this,Silverlight, for security purposes, will ask for your permission…

♦Open the web page

Please use Microsoft I.E. 11 (but not Microsoft Edge)

Or

(Which will redirect you to the first URL given)
Note: Windows 10

By default, Internet Explorer 11 is hidden from the Start menu. You can access it by clicking on Start, then type in "Internet Explorer" (no quotes);

Once it appears in the list, you can right click it and select "Pin to Start" or "Pin to Taskbar".

Click the Login link on the top right of the page

Or

You can click the Run Assessment button directly – which will first auto-click the Login link for you.

The same is true if you click any of the buttons here but this documentation is only looking at running an assessment and then a report so don’t click Run Reports or Preferences at this time.

For the sake of this document go ahead and click the Run Assessmentbutton – you will then see this screen…

Since you will be logging in as a guest account no need entering any information – just click the checkbox shown and then OK

You will then be shown this welcome screen…

A few things to mention about this screen. First make note of the URL shown. You may want to copy that URL for future reference, or click the Save To Clipboard button. When you click the OK button on this screen you will be taken to the assessment selection screen. If at any time you log off and would like to return to this assessment tool you can do one of two things.

One, you can open the URL from the top of this document

Or

Two, open the URL as shown in the welcome screen, in this example that would be

The difference between the two is the first URL will allow you to login as a guest just like you did before but you will be given a new set of students. The second URL will allow you to login in as a guest but you will be given the same set of students and all of the assessment results (if you ran any) will still be available to run reports against and/or retest any given student.

Note: each time you login in as a guest using the main URL you will be assigned a new ID number.

Click the OK button to be shown the assessment selection screen…

Since we are doing a simple quick demo we will not go too deep into this page, so for now we will simply click the Letter Name button (which is already selected) and click the GO button.

Note: feel free to click around on this page – you cannot hurt anything by doing so.

♦ Run an Assessment

Drop down the Select Student list box and select a student…

You are now ready to run the assessment for Letter Name.

Click the Begin button – the assessment is now in progress…

Assessment in Progress Functions

When a test item (letter, sight word, etc.) is displayed the student is asked to identify the item. If identified incorrectly (NO) you can press any letter on the keyboard a-z. If identified correctly (YES) press the spacebar. There may be times where you, the teacher, pressed the incorrect answer or perhaps misheard the student. For cases like these you can press the Esc key and the previous test item will reappear. At this point you can press the appropriate key and the new test results will replace the previous result.

Again, feel free to click the other buttons, but for our purposes we assume you have processed all test items and are now at the post test results screen which appears when the last test item is answered…

Click Post Results button to save the assessment results. The following assessment notes screen will appear…

You can optionally enter assessment notes that will be saved for future use when we print the assessment results. So for now enter any dummy assessment notes and click Save.

At this point you will return to running the same test. You will most likely select another student for testing. If instead you clicked the checkbox shown above then afterPOST’ing’ the data you will go back to the assessment selection page. In either case, you could press the Back link at the top-left of the page to return to the assessment selection page.

But we will now go to the Run Reports page – click the Home link at the top left of the page.

We are back at the Home page – click the Run Reports button.

Print assessment results

Again, there are a lot of features on the report page but we are keeping it simple. With that said, let’s look at the assessment results for the student we just tested. As you can see Letter Nameis selected by default. So if you ran Letter Name you are ready to go. If you ran another assessment then click that assessment name.

Percent Mastered report is also selected by default – so click the GO button.

Here you will see the assessment results with various metrics. For a detailedbreakdown of which test items were mastered or unmastered click the Details button.

For a Word Document format click the Report button. Depending on your browser it may download the file, at which point you will need to click on the link shown. For Chrome you will see this…

Or

For IE you will be shown this window…

Excel spreadsheet

Note: When you open the Details report you will see Save To Clipboard at the bottom of the page.

You can use the steps below to copy the data to an Excel spreadsheet for post-processing.

======
Create An Excel File
======
FYI -For any report that has a column with a Details button
1) Open a blank Excel file
2) Click the Details button
3) Click Save To Clipboard button
4) Paste into the blank Excel spreadsheet

Misc. notes

  • If you rerun an assessment with a student that did not master all of the test items the assessment will only present the unmasteredtest items.
  • If you click on the .rft file down load from the report page and Microsoft Word does not open the file you need to associate the .rft file type with Microsoft Word
