QUALITY CONTROL INSPECTOR - TEMPORARY

Winston Brands is seeking a Temporary Quality Control (QC) Inspector oversees and conducts performance tests and inspections of various product types including handcrafted products. QC Inspectors communicate the results of inspections to appropriate staff and vendors and makes recommendations on failed products to help ensure compliance.

REPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs tests and inspections/comparisons of production samples and packaging according to department standards and procedures.
  • Reviews and approves Final Product Inspection Reports.
  • Approves labeling of product and packaging to ensure it complies with government and WMG standards.
  • Assists in the cartonization of samples per WMG guidelines and protocols.
  • Provides assistance on the follow up of packaging and production samples in order to meet PO’s scheduled ship dates.
  • Receives and processes Photo Samples.
  • Opens, measures, weighs and inspects samples and helps identify problems and/or defects, such as rips, tears, scratches, etc. before providing sample disposition.
  • Communicates with overseas and domestic vendors on pass/fail status of samples.
  • Coordinates research with QA Shipments Inspector Lead regarding any failed samples, ensuring vendor notification of such issues.
  • Makes recommendations, in conjunction with QC Supervisor to vendors on failed samples so they may rectify problems so that products pass inspection.
  • Coordinates with QC Supervisor to ensure the approval of all packaging and production samples within the required sample approval timeline; issues packaging and production sample requests.
  • Requests new samples for items with low power reviews or previous non-conformance; recommends improvements.
  • Understands testing protocols for specific product types and is able to effectively communicate requirements and results to vendors.
  • Assembles samples as required.
  • Ensures timely transfers of packaging and production samples to and from Melrose Park; maintains well organized records of samples transferred to Melrose Park.
  • Provides back-up support to other QC/QA Inspectors, Sample Room Coordinator and Quality Supervisor as needed.

  • Works under general supervision. Primary job functions require the exercise of independent judgment.
  • This position has a significant impact on the Company’s reputation in the marketplace and the satisfaction of our customers.
  • Works closely with Merchandising, Quality Assurance, and Inventory Management departments.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High School education or equivalent required, some post-secondary education a plus.
  • Previous experience working in a quality inspection role with various product types and handcrafted product strongly desired.
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite of products, specifically Word and Excel is required.
  • Ability to use a digital camera for activities including download of photos and then adjustment to images as required including rotation, cropping, size and color adjustments etc.
