Quality Assessors – Engineering & Biological Sciences Accreditation

Here is a great career change if you are a quality practitioner looking to broaden your horizons. Based in Auckland, New Zealand

Industry relies on accurate inspection services to ensure that the work environment is safe. But how do we know that those who are inspectors are undertaking their role in a competent fashion? To give assurance that best practices are being followed, confirmation of compliance with international quality and technical standards is necessary through gaining accreditation with an independent body.

IANZ was set up by government statute to fulfil this function, servicing a wide range of sectors throughout New Zealand. Its clients include inspection bodies that provide inspection services for diverse industry specialties including food & drinking water, asbestos, methamphetamine, building consent, pressure equipment, pipelines, Non-Destructive Testing, fire sprinklers and alarms.

These Accreditation Assessor roles will involve planning and leading assessments of the quality and technical management systems in a broad range of organisations that provide these services throughout New Zealand. Research and familiarisation with applicable regulatory requirements as well as intensive use of industry-wide national and international Technical Experts form part of most assessments. Diligent use of the IANZ systems and procedures is an organisational requirement. Full and sustained training for the role will be given over an initial six-month period.

Who are we after? People who have:

  • A tertiary qualification
  • Experience in a quality focused role involving ISO9001, ISO17025 or ISO17020
  • An aptitude for continued learning and innovation
  • A background in engineering, construction or biological sciences at supervisory/management level or alternatively those with KTP or Signatory status
  • Strong report writing skills
  • Good client liaison skills with the ability to present professionally
  • An ability to undertake regular travel

The appointee will be largely autonomous in organising their own workload and can expect the role to cover a wide range of disciplines within this programme.
