Assistant Secondary Principal

Position Description:

Brazosport Christian School seeks to provide our students with a college-preparatory curriculum. The Assistant Secondary Principalwill work closely with the Secondary School Principal and the Head of School to positively impact the student culture.

Responsibilities:

Student behavior responsibilities:

  • Establish a strong culture of academic excellence and disciplined behavior among the students
  • Help emphasize spiritual development, academics and Christian character (manners, courtesy, kindness, attitude, morals, leadership) in Junior High and High School. Assure that the Bible and its standards of behavior are integrated into all secondary classes, specials, activities and behavior of teachers and students.
  • Develop programs and structures for proactively teaching students the expected behavioral norms regarding both academic performance, social interaction and spiritual development
  • Keep a record of all disciplinary referrals from teachers and staff
  • Enter all discipline referrals into a school database (REN WEB)
  • Create monthly reports on discipline referrals including number of referrals by category and types of consequences assigned
  • Handle all student referrals in a timely fashion
  • Contact parents regarding any discipline referrals which involves removal from class, detention or suspension (parent must be informed before a student is expected to serve the detention or suspension)

Student attendance responsibilities:

  • Keep a database of all student attendance and tardies.
  • Contact parents concerning absences and tardies

  • Assist with establishing strong relationships with parents and the Brazosport area community

PRINCIPAL

Job Description (General)

EXPECTATIONS

The Principal should be a mature believer in Christ who is active in a local church. This person must be able to submit to authority as well as be an authority. He/she should demonstrate the spiritual gifts of administration and wisdom and must not be a person who cannot endure criticism or conflict. This person should have a dedication to the advancement of Christian education.

QUALIFICATIONS

The Principal should hold a Principal/Administrator certificate from ACSI. This person should have a minimum of three years classroom experience. It is preferred that this person hold an advanced degree or be working toward that goal.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assists in the development and supervises the execution of curriculum studies for grades under their supervision.
  2. Assists the head of school as needed in the total operation of BCS.
  3. Assumes responsibility for administering procedures necessary to develop appropriate student control and discipline in all phases of the educational program for their grade levels.
  4. Assumes responsibility for the general operation of the daily operation of their division.
  5. Works in cooperation with academic resource personnel where the adjustment, welfare and discipline of students pertain to other administrative functions.
  6. Shares with the Head of School the supervision of teachers in their division.
  7. Assumes the responsibility for the general operation of the school during the absence of the Head of School when so assigned.
  8. Assists the Head of School in interviewing of prospective faculty in their division.

QUALIFICATIONS

He/she will hold an advanced degree in Educational Administration from an accredited college. The Head of School will have at least 5 years experience in school administration. This person will be a born-again believer in Jesus Christ.

Board Responsibilities

ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

JOB DESCRIPTION

The athletics director provides oversight and leadership for the total athletics program in

accordance with the mission statement and the policies of the school and the rules of the state athletic association. This person is responsible for the supervision of all personnel in developing and maintaining an effective program to the praise and glory of God.

SUPERVISION OF PERSONNEL

  • Make recommendations as soon as possible to the Head of School regarding the assignment of coaching positions and position openings for the next school year.
  • Recruit and screen all coaches, making sure they conform to school standards and are state-association-certified coaches or that they will take a certification class to coach at the high school level.
  • Make recommendations for the hiring of head coaches.
  • Assist the head coach of each program in the selection of other coaches, assistants, and volunteers for that program.
  • Have all coaches, volunteer or employed, to meet with Human Resources to fill out all forms required.
  • Provide orientation, direction, and training of department staff and volunteers.
  • Arrange for substitute coaches when they’re needed, and assist them in successfully carrying out their responsibilities.
  • Be sure that all coaches and department staff understand the coaching philosophy, team rules, lettering policies, policy compliance, program improvement, program needs, and other items in the athletics handbook. Keep team rules and lettering policies on file
  • Provide ongoing and yearly evaluation of coaches and programs.

SUPERVISION OF SCHEDULING

  • Coordinate all athletics events that take place within school facilities and grounds.
  • Plan athletics programs for the entire year in consultation with Facilities Coordinator, and provide input for all athletics events on the master calendar.
  • Participate with other league athletics directors in planning, coordinating, and implementing league events and activities.
  • Coordinate with coaches the scheduling of all tournaments, interscholastic contests, trips, clinics, camps, practices, and scrimmages related to athletics.
  • Send schedules for sport ten to twelve months ahead of time to the state athletic association to ensure maximum allowable participation by the school.
  • Send schedules to opposing schools two weeks in advance of play dates. All games (team, time, and location) should be confirmed two working days prior to the contest.
  • Secure officials for each sport’s home event; make sure the appropriate officials associations are contacted and the final schedules are sent to them.
  • Delegate management procedures to respective coaches for all home contests.
  • Provide appropriate supervisory personnel for each home event.
  • Assist visiting teams when accommodations or services are needed. Serve as the host to visiting teams. Act as liaison, informing visiting teams and officials of the pertinent details of their participation, such as time schedule and dressing facilities.
