Quaker Summer Classic
14U Tournament Rules
- ALL teams will play a minimum of four (4) games and could play six (6) games through championship rounds (weather permitting). Tournament limited to 8 teams.
- Tournament games will begin on the Friday of the event.
- Teams will play 1 preliminary game on Friday and 2 on Saturday with consolation and play-offs being on Sunday. Teams that cannot, or choose not to play on Friday will most likely play 3 preliminary games on Saturday.
- The National Federation (NFHS) Baseball Rules will be used.
- Games shall be seven (7) innings in length (2 hour time limit in preliminary round).
- No new inning shall commence after two hours of game play through preliminary round (time limit adjustments will be made for poor weather).
- In the championship rounds of semifinals and finals, every effort within reason will be made to complete gamesby innings and/or time limits if weather should interfere.
- No team will play in more than two (2) preliminary games per day during the event unless due to team option or weather.
- No player may pitch more than a total of 12 innings during the tournament.
- No player may make more than threeappearances as a pitcher during the tournament.
NOTE: Throwing one (1) pitch constitutes an appearance.
- Courtesy runner for both the pitcher and the catcher may be used at any time. Courtesy runner has to be someone not presently in the line-up. The same player can not run for both the pitcher and catcher in the same inning.
- Wiffle and Lite-Flite balls are allowed prior to game, NO SOFT TOSS into fences. Portable soft toss net OKAY.
- Any participant (player, coach, spectator, etc.) ejected from a game shall have the circumstances of his/her ejection reviewedby the Tournament Director, Site Supervisor, and/or Chief Umpire. A decision will then be made what additional penalty, if any,shall be applied to that person. The additional penalty may include suspension from a subsequent game(s) or suspension fromthe tournament all together.
- ALL teams must provide a roster and liability insurance for their team.
Accommodations
- ALL teams will have special rates available to them provided by the tournament and will be provided with free housing service to make those reservations.
Championship Format (Based on 8 participating teams)
Pool Play:
- Teams divided into two (2) pools
- Each team will play three (3) pool play games
- Mercy run rules are in affect and will be applied in tie breakers.
- After three (3) games the top 2 seeds in each pool will play crossover and championship.
- All other teams will play in consolation or tiered championship brackets (determined by entries).
Tie-Breaker Rules (for seeding purposes; in order of use)
1. Head-to-Head competition
2. Run differential (overall)
3. Fewest runs allowed (overall)
4. Number of runs scored (overall)
5. Coin flip
Pitch ‘n Hit Events Mission
1. To provide a number of games for each team within a balanced schedule.
2. To allow a competitive tournament format with opportunities to advance within the tournament.
3. To provide a pleasant and exciting baseball tournament while allowing for social activities within the area.
4. To develop the tournament into an exciting annual event that teams from all across the region will attend.
