ABG Supplier Portal: Business Requirements: Shipping: Package ID
PACKAGE IDENTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Refer to ABG specifications for specific requirements.
The method for identifying shipping containers is determined by the Supplier. Label, stencils, hand lettering or ink jet methods are permissible provided that the information is legible and durable. In general, labels should have a light background and a minimum letter height of ½”.
Raw Materials and Components:
The following information must appear on each container:
1. ABG part number/SKU - Complete and accurate ABG SKU as indicated on the purchase order.
2. ABG description - A brief description of the contents as indicated on the purchase order (If no description is included, a trade or generic name is acceptable).
3. Quantity per container / Unit of Measure - Total amount in the container and unit of measure as specified in the purchase order. The Unit of Measure on the container must match the Unit of Measure on the Purchase Order.
4. Date packed/shipped - Month/day/year on which material is packed or otherwise prepared for shipment. Supplier lot/batch number can be substituted for date.
5. Purchase order number - The complete purchase order number.
6. Manufacturer’s name and country of origin - Must appear on each container. If manufacturer and supplier are different, supplier’s name and country of origin shall also appear.
7. Lot number - Lot/batch number traceability is required. When materials are shipped on pallets, each pallet should contain one, and only one, production lot number. If multiple production lots must be shipped on one pallet, all lot numbers and quantity per pallet must be clearly identified on two adjacent sides of the pallet.
8. Hazard Code – If applicable, include the 3 position hazard/handling prefix.
9. Unit artwork number - if applicable.
Core Finished Goods:
The following information must appear on each container:
1. ABG part number/SKU - Complete and accurate ABG SKU as indicated on the purchase order.
2. ABG description - A brief description of the contents as indicated on the purchase order (If no description is included, a trade or generic name is acceptable).
3. Quantity
1. When shipping case is too small for pallet handling and storage, master shippers are to be used.
2. Each master shipper must be marked with the ABG part number/SKU, description, and the Access Manufacturing Code (AMC).
3. Each shipping container must have the total quantity within indicated in cases and/or each as follows:
If Unit of Measure is Case, mark as follows:
· xCS (1CS=yEA) where x = number of cases in a master shipper/single case and where y= number of each in a case
Examples:
1CS (1CS=6EA) - 6 each packed in a single case.
4CS (1CS=6EA) - 24 each packed 6 to case, 4 cases in a master shipper.
If Unit of Measure is Each, mark as follows:
· xEA where x= number of each in case or master shipper.
Example:
12EA - 12 each packed in a single case or master shipper. Refer to the purchase order for the Unit of Measure.
4. ABG Manufacturing Code (AMC) – If requested by ABG.
5. Other lot/batch numbers
1. The supplier’s lot/batch numbers are not to be mixed within a case or master shipper, except for variety packs.
2. For variety packs, the lot number on the case and/or the master shipper must match the supplier’s oldest manufactured date on any of the product within the variety pack.
3. A traceable supplier lot/batch number** must appear on each consumable package.
4. Only one part number/SKU to a pallet is allowable. Mixed lots on a pallet are acceptable if clearly marked and identified.
Please record the part number/SKU, lot, and the quantities of each lot accurately. This information must then be placed on the front of the pallet under the stretch-wrap, or securely attached.
** Suppliers may use the 8-digit AMC to replace their lot/batch number.
6. Net Weight Statement Requirements
1. Food and drug products must conform to U.S. federal and/or international regulations covering unit of measure labeling.
2. A net weight statement must be present on selling unit and shipping container, if one and the same.
Advertising, trade names, or any other non-required printing on cases and master shippers is unacceptable unless approved by ABG Procurement.
