Treasurer

Vern Bahm

  • Reported:
  • He will deploy in September for four months.
  • We had an increase in expenses due to uniforms, light rentals, field liningmore expensive. PWAC rental is also very expensive.
  • Potomac High SchoolTurf Field Rental was $700 a day
  • Unexpected costs, every boy received a new pair of shorts and additional procurement of pinnie/jersey as the sizing ran larger due to cut, also all boys received shooting shirts with uniform
  • Equipment purchases were minimal in for 2015 Season
  • Boys Program will not go inside for 2016 Winter Clinic; Assessments to be held outdoors; resulting in a small cost reduction
  • Rules change request will be submitted to NVYLL for Uniform Change; this will help reduction in cost of purchasing new girls uniform. Boys will use same uniform in 2016 Season.

Club Accomplishments

  • 95% of our head coaches are US lacrosse CEP level 1 certified
  • 100% assistant coaches are US lacrosse online certified
  • Through hard work, we were able to secure Saunders as our home field.
  • We have had a lot of high school team building/giving back (Woodbridge, Forest Park, and Osborne Park).
  • Building relationships with affiliate lacrosse programs; Goalie Clinic with Go Big (Rich Klares). Also during 2015 winter, Go Big offered our goalies free registration for participation in their Box Lax program.
  • Entered both girls and boys teams in TripleEdge.
  • Increased Social media – more e-mails, facebook page w/300 followers
  • Summer Pick-up Games – huge success for both Boys and Girls programs this summer.
  • The Boys and Girls Programs have already slated their coaching staff for the 2016 season.
  • Coaches are already being tasked to put together training plans for clinics.

Vice Commissioner Comments:

Patrick Beckett, new Vice Girls Commissioner

  • We are trying to improve club processes.
  • We are putting together girls clinic and fall tourney, planning early.

Parent Question: A Parent noted that with two girls in two different age groups, the NVYLL schedule was not conducive to him being able to see both girls play (too much overlap in times and always at different fields). Was there any way for this to be more coordinated? Pat Beckett said that he would bring this up at a future NVYLL meeting.

Mark Huber, new Vice Boys Commissioner

In the past, we have not given ourselves enough notice to plan. We are trying to resolve this by setting earlier deadlines.

  • We are putting together a coaching selection committee and have developed criteria to help make coaching selections/placements.
  • In the off season – we’re carrying out clinics and pickups.
  • Low costs for new families – require fundraising – makes it more affordable.
  • Expansion into new demographics – Field days at elementary schools.

Meeting adjourned at 8:15
