JOB TITLE: Systems Administrator I / II

REPORTS TO: Compliance Officer DEPT: IT/MIS

GENERAL FUNCTION: Responsible for computer system administration, including installing, testing, configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting Puyallup Tribal Health Authority’s (PTHA’s) computing systems used for the transmission of voice, data and video in a secured format. In addition, this position is responsible for IT infrastructure assets including but not limited to: hardware software, telecommunications, and wireless systems to ensure the overall performance and availability to PTHA users.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

·  Responsible for performing Windows configuration, implementation and technical support on a daily basis
·  Analyze and troubleshoot computing problems on a daily basis, or sooner if needed.
·  On a day-to-day basis provide second level support to the Help Desk and I.T. Specialists.
·  Responsible for performing Windows system backups including configuration, implementation, upgrades and support on a daily basis
·  Identify and implement appropriate enterprise level solutions as soon as possible when issues arise.
·  Provide regular status updates as needed to end users regarding their projects and support requests. Updates are to be provided from initiation through resolution/completion.
·  Provide weekly summary of work accomplished, open issues and focus for the upcoming week to the Systems Engineer III by established deadline.
·  Perform software & system updates and maintenance quarterly or sooner if needed.
·  Use asset inventory software to maintain up to date reports on software/hardware inventory, licenses and warranty information on a quarterly basis, or sooner if needed.
·  Participate in the after hour on-call coverage according to schedule, or as needed.
·  As directed: Research, evaluate, test, recommend and support scalable solutions for PTHA’s computing environment
·  Initiates contact with vendors as needed or requested. Act as the primary point person in handling vendor interactions.
·  Stay knowledgeable of current and evolving networking technologies, solutions and products by attending at least 8 hours of appropriate web based continuing education annually.
·  Report errors or issues to Systems Engineer III on the same business day the issue is discovered.
·  Responsible for performing system configuration, implementation, redundancy checks and technical support on a daily basis.
·  On a daily basis is responsible for systems documentation.
·  Responsible for knowing and understanding the concepts, industry standards, practices and tools relating to high-availability networks.
·  Analyze & assess capacity of hardware/OS/systems and recommend upgrades/changes that will enhance performance and meet business needs on a quarterly basis or sooner if necessary.
·  Perform hardware/software system updates and maintenance quarterly or sooner if needed.
·  Validate server recovery and restore procedures alongside the Systems Administrator I on a quarterly basis.
·  Provides after hours maintenance as directed or as necessary.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE):

Systems Administrator I: Bachelor Degree in an IT related field and at least one year as Microsoft Systems Administrator in an environment with 100 or more networked computing devices. Experience with Microsoft Exchange, SQL Server and desktop computers running Windows 7 OR Equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience in an IT field may be substituted. A current certification in one or more of the following areas required: Microsoft: MCITP, MCSE; or CCENT.

Systems Administrator II: Bachelor Degree in an IT related field and at least three years of progressively responsible experience in information systems, communication systems, hardware and software installation troubleshooting and support OR Equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience in a Microsoft computing infrastructure including Microsoft Windows servers, Microsoft Exchange and desktop computers running Windows Vista & Windows 7 including troubleshooting and support. A current certification in one or more of the following areas required: Microsoft: MCITP, MCSE, CISCO or VMWare.
