MEDICAL SCHOLARSHIP

PURPOSE:To make contributions to the future of the students served

bythe Stanley-BoydAreaSchool District, i.e. public and private schools.

APPLICATIONS:The Stanley Lions Scholarships are open to all high school seniors graduating in 2018 from within the boundaries of the Stanley-Boyd Area School District who fulfill qualifications listed below. Scholarship winners will be selected from applicants submitting an essay on a topic, which is stated on the application form, and when completed, applications and essays must be submitted to Mrs. Hove at Stanley-BoydHigh School.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR (1) Essay

APPLICANTS:(2) Winners must be eligible for admission and must

enrollin the fall 2018 term at a college, university or

technical/vocational school.

ESSAY CRITERIA:(1) Must be from 500 to 1000 words in length

(2) Essay must be word processed.

(3) Must exhibit proper grammar, spelling, punctuation

and sentence construction.

(4) Do not include your name on the essay.

AMOUNT OF AWARD:The sum of $700.00 will be paid for each scholarship

awarded. The scholarship will be for the 2018-2019 school year and will be paid in the following manner;When the winner has completed the first semester, he or she must provide to the Stanley-Boyd High School Guidance Counselor, a report card or transcript and proof of registration for full-time second semester enrollment. Upon receipt of verification of successful completion of full time study in good standing (min. 2.5GPA), a check will be dispersed directly to the recipient and the school they are attending.

TIME OF APPLICATION:All applications must be submitted to Mrs. Hove atStanley-Boyd High School by May 11, 2018.

All information will be treated in strict confidence. All

entries become the property of the Stanley Lions Club. The

scholarship committee will judge the applications.

This is an annual scholarship awarded to a graduating senior from the Stanley-BoydAreaSchool District, who will pursue an area of study in a health field at any institution of higher education. The student must write an essay on the topic, Why I want to enter a medical field. Some ideas that could be included in the essay are: a) what area of health are you going into and why, b) what school are you attending and why, c) who influenced you to go into this medical area, d) what experiences have you had that make you think you will be successful in this field?
