PURPOSE OF YOUR JOB
The Night concierge will provide first contact and safeguarding to the clients at night in Chapter 1’s support service. You will be responsible for controlling access to buildings, dealing with emergencies, carrying out Health and Safety checks and reporting on any events or concerns.
The concierge will have basic understanding and non-judgmental attitude to working with a client group that maybe experiencing complex issues such as mental and/or physical ill health, challenging behavior, substance use and offending.
Apart from their shift partner, the concierge will have access to advice and support from Service Provider’s Out of hours Management on Call service.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- To act with integrity and be awake and alert at all times during your shift
- To maintain the safety and security of service users in Stephen House Service (Stephen House, Forest Road and Huxley Road); supervising the entry and exiting of the building, carrying our household jobs, undertaking regular Health and Safety Checks on patrols and monitoring the CCTV systems,
- To maintain a full and accurate log of events, report on incidents, record contact with clients on file and report any maintenance issues for the purpose of clear and concise communication to service staff.
- To take immediate action in the event of a fire or emergency; calling emergency services as appropriate. To respond to medical emergencies with first aid and follow up where needed by making contact with emergency services and the on call manager. To respond appropriately to violent incidents.
- To be a good team player and work constructively with colleagues and managers in all aspects of the post holders work.
- To take responsibility for punctual attendance. To participate in supervisions, appraisals and training as appropriate and to take active responsibility for personal development.
- Upon request, to participate in verbal and written handovers from outgoing / incoming service staff.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL / DESIRABLEClerical/administration work
IT skills [Word, Excel, Email]
Good level of oral and written communication and numeracy / Experience of report writing and rent collection/cash handling
Understanding the needs of vulnerable young people / Experience of working with young homeless people
Able to follow written procedure and polices and working on own initiative. / Experience of supported housing
Confident in dealing with security issues and emergencies, and ability to adapt your approach to suit a variety of situations, individuals and groups.
Ability to work flexibly on a rota, including weekends and public holidays / Experience of night security work
Holding a valid driving licence and car, and be willing to drive to and services.
Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment
QUALIFICATIONS
Good standard of general education Evidence of literacy and numeracy skills
Evidence of good IT skills
