The national Headstart programme - run by EDT, offers S5 students under the age of 18 who are interested in studying a degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths) field, the opportunity to spend up to a week at one of the top universities in the UK. They can experience what life at university is really like and understand what exciting career opportunities a degree course might lead to. They’ll be able to connect with professionals in specific STEM industries, as well as other students from across the UK, whilst developing essential skills like problem-solving and team work.

While places normally cost around £400, Career Ready has been offered 25 free places available for S5 students at our schools. This opportunity is open to both Career Ready and non Career Ready students.

Please note, the majority of opportunities take place at the same time as the summer internships for Year 1 Career Ready students and therefore will not be suitable for most Career Ready students - though there are three opportunities that take place later in the summer. Please see Mrs Grant in G21 if you require an application form. The deadline date for applications is the 26th January 2018. (KJG)
