Bernice A. Ray School Parent Teacher Organization

Family Membership – School Year 2005 – 2006

Dear Ray School Family,September 2, 2005

The Ray School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) welcomes all new and returning families to the start of another great school year! The PTO is a group of volunteer parents and staff members dedicated to enhancing the Ray School experience for all involved by distributing information, fostering mutual understanding among parents and teachers, and identifying ways of addressing common concerns. We are open to all Ray School parents and guardians. You are encouraged to become involved in any way you can: Attend meetings, serve on a committee, assist with an event, volunteer your specific talent/skill, attend a program and have fun while being involved in your child(ren)’s life. There are many opportunities to become involved, both long and short term. Just ask or sign up!

The beginning of school also signals the kick-off of our Family Membership drive. We are a non-fundraising group, and all funds needed to support programming and activities are raised through annual membership dues and sales of membership items. This policy enables PTO volunteers to devote their time and energy to activities benefiting the Ray School community, rather than to fundraising efforts.

Please help out by joining and participating in your PTO for the 2005 – 2006 school year. Last year, the PTO was supported by a vast majorityof Ray School families and staff. With their support, the PTO was able to undertake many projects that enhanced the Ray School experience for students, staff and families.

To join the PTO, please return the membership form and annual dues to your child’s teacher by Friday, September 16, 2005. This is a family membership; if you have multiple children in the school, you only need to return one form. The Ray School Directory, indispensable to many families, comes with your membership and will be distributed to PTO members in mid- to late October.

Our first meeting, Sept 13th, will be a great opportunity for everyone to meet the new and returning PTO Board and committee chairs and to learn about the organization. All meetings will be held in the Ray School Art room. Childcare will be available at all afternoon meetings. Anyone needing childcare during an evening meeting should contact Denise Robbins (643-7624), at least one week prior to the meeting. The PTO meeting schedule is on the back of this sheet.

We look forward to welcoming new and returning families for the 2005-2006 school year.

Sincerely,

The Bernice A. Ray School PTO Board
