Description of Psychology Graduate Scholar Award

Eligibility Requirements

  1. The student must have formal graduate student standing in the Master’s of Science in Applied Behavior Analysisprogram within the Department of Psychology, must be making acceptable and timely progress toward the completion of the MS ABAdegree, and must be enrolled as a full-time student.

Application Process

  1. The application and description of the award are emailed to faculty and graduate students in the psychology departments.
  2. The student completes the application and emails it to the chair of the Department of Psychology’s Awards Committee, Dr. Polemnia Amazeen.
  3. The student asks an MS ABA program practicum partner supervisor to write a brief letter of recommendation evaluating the student’s (1) contributions, and potential for future contributions, to the behavior-analytic discipline, and/or behavior-analytic community involvement, as well as (2) progress toward completing the Master’s degree.
  4. For 2017, the deadline for electronic submission of all materials is 5pm on Monday, March 20th.

Selection Process

1. The Department of Psychology Awards Committee, along with the MS ABA program director, will review all submitted materials and select the recipient(s).

2. The award is intended to recognize the accomplishments of a master’s level student who is demonstrating overall excellence in the MS ABA program, including contributions to the applied behavior analysis discipline and community involvement reflecting application of behavior-analytic competency.

Award Distribution

The recipient will be honored at the annual end-of-the-year Psychology Department celebration. The award amount is $1500. All applicants will be notified by April 7, 2017 and the funds will be awarded during the Fall 2017 semester. Any impact of this award on the student’s financial aid support will be the student’s responsibility.
