In Deuteronomy 27:17 we read, "Cursed be he that removeth his neighbor's landmark. And all the people shall say, Amen."One of these LANDMARKSfor us is the founding and history of our nation as a Christian Nation. America has a heritage that cries, "We cannot go without God."

Psalm 33:12 "Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD..."

Proverbs 14:34, "RIGHTEOUSNESS exalteth a nation but sin is a reproach to any people."

Proverbs 29:2, "When the RIGHTEOUS are in authority, the people rejoice; but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn." Follow me as I expand on Proverbs 29:2, "When those who endeavor to RIGHT what is morally wrong and endeavor to do it publicly, when they increase in number people rejoice..."

In 1892, the Supreme Court's decision in Church of the Holy Trinity v. United States said in part: “Our laws and our institutions must necessarily be based upon and embody the teachings of the Redeemer of mankind. It is impossible that it should be otherwise, and in this sense and to this extent, our civilization and our institutions are emphatically Christian ... This is a religious people. This is historically true.”

Daniel Webster said, “The principles of genuine liberty and of wise laws and administrations are to be drawn from the Bible and sustained by its authority. The man, therefore, who weakens or destroys the divine authority of that book, may be accessory to all the public disorders which society is doomed to suffer.”

On July 30, 1956 the 84th Congress passed and it was signed into law that our National Motto would be “In God We Trust.” However, this sentiment has been an integral part of American history since its founding and it is expressed in Psalm 4:5, 16:1; 20:7; 22:4-5, 40:3; 91:2.

Throughout the 200 years since its founding, our nation went through good times and bad, and made its share of mistakes. However, in recent times, our nation has deliberately and systematically chosen to drift away from God in the following ways:

We have willfully broken the covenant of the Founding Fathers.

We have tampered with God's absolute standards - the Ten Commandments.

We have ridiculed Christian believers while acquiescing to Islamic demands.

Our courts that once legislated against immorality began to grant freedom to everyone.

Our courts have allowed murder on demand. What can we expect?

Our courts have expelled prayer from schools, so we should not be surprised at the problems that replaced it: teen alcoholism and drug addiction, teen pregnancy, promiscuity, and children killing children at school.

Again we are approaching the time in our nation for the election of a President, all the members of the House of Representatives, and one third of the US Senators. This is a time for God’s people to be much in prayer as we remember the words of II Chronicles 7:14. “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”Then plan to VOTE – remember every vote counts!
