PRS Guitars Story on MPT’s Artworks Program

Documentary, filmed by MPT, showcases the art and craftsmen of Paul Reed Smith Guitars

STEVENSVILLE, MD (October 12, 2015) - - The story of Paul Reed Smith Guitarsand how this Maryland-based company became the third largest US electric guitar manufacturerby weavingmasterful art into guitarbuildingis the focus feature of Maryland Public’s Television’s Artworks program airing Thursday, October 22 at 8:00pm.

This installment of the award-winning documentary series, produced and directed by Susanne Stahley and hosted by Rhea Felkin,will take viewers through the PRS factory to show some of the intricate luthiery and personal craftsmanship that the company is known for. The feature will include a spotlight on PRS Guitars’ working founder and Managing General Partner, Paul Reed Smith,who traverses his beginnings as an Annapolis guitar repairman throughhis years building an internationally recognized brand. The PRS Guitars segment will also show an exhibition of guitars from the PRS Archives, which includes early PRS models, guitars made of highly-figured tonewoods,and PRS’s famous Dragon guitarsthat feature the most intricate of inlay work.

The Artworks PRS feature can be seen on MPT in Maryland and surrounding areas in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia and Washington DC. Each Thursday evening’s Artworks is rebroadcast on the following Sunday at 12:30pm. MPT will also host the program online following the broadcast. MPT is part of the Public Broadcasting Services. The Artworks program is shared among this network, air times and dates vary.
