Become a Prospect Wines Distributor.

Are you looking for a part time job that will top up your back pocket?

Maybe you think this could become a full time job for you.

And most importantly you want a home based business!

A Prospect Wines Distributor is an exciting way to be part of the wine industry. You decide how many hours you want to work to suit your lifestyle or other work commitments. Be self employed and work from home. And it is a fun job!

What is it?

Prospect Wines have an exclusive range of fantastic quality wines from around Australia at great prices. These wines are not available for sale in bottle shops or liquor stores. We our looking for persons to operate their own business as a Prospect Wines Distributor throughout regional Victoria. You need to enjoy wine and be comfortable talking about it, but you don’t need to be a wine snob. A Prospect Wines Distributor sells wine via the internet or mail order.

How does it work?

Basically, we authorise you to be a Prospect Wines Distributor, and you apply for a Renewable Limited Liquor Licence from Liquor Licensing Victoria. This liquor licence has various conditions, but briefly it allows you to operate a “limited” wine business from your home. “Limited” in this case means only a limited range of wine, no retail shop, and no walk-in customers.

As a Distributor you buy all wine from us at a special discounted wholesale price. The liquor licence is in your name, you control what discounts you wish to give (within our guidelines), the sales are yours and the profits are yours.

We supply you unlabelled wine; you can do the labelling work at our warehouse facilities, or we can do it for you for a small fee.

Who do I sell to?

In order to comply with your licence, all sales must be via the telephone, internet or mail order. We will provide you with all the required forms to assist you to take orders that full-fill these obligations. You can doorknock factory complexes, approach social and sporting clubs and carry out letter box drops in your neighbourhood to drum up business. The list of places to sell wine is endless. You hold wine tastings for your friends, colleagues, local businesses, clubs, social groups or fundraisers. Every person who wishes to buy wine completes a mail order form and the wine is sent to them later.

Fundraisers & private labels

The main benefit of being a Prospect Wines Distributor is it allows you to sell to fundraiser groups, such as sporting clubs, kindergartens, schools, charities and service clubs. The market for these sales is fantastic, and you need to commit time to them, but the potential rewards are great. You have to offer these groups a discount, but the sales are potentially very large to compensate. Sales of $1500 to $3000 are common, and much higher sales are certainly possible. We recently had a small netball club sell $11,000 worth of wine and a large school sold $18,000. Think about all the groups around your area that need to raise funds. They can make $40 a dozen profit by using our systems.

And let’s not forget customised labels for corporate use, weddings, birthdays, parties and lots of other occasions. If you have a flair for designing and can work with computers you can design and print your own labels or get head office to do it for you.

Is it a Franchise?

This is not a franchise. Yes we licence you to use our trade mark and you will be required to follow our pricing guidelines, but unlike a Franchise, you do not have to pay any fees to us to start the business, or at all during the continuing operation of the business. That means no goodwill to buy, no capital investment fee, no training fees, no turnover based royalty fees, and no ongoing monthly service fees. Furthermore there is no initial stock on hand that you must purchase. What’s the catch? There isn’t one! We make our money over the long term by supplying the wine you sell. Under the terms of the Distribution Agreement you purchase all your wine stocks from us which we supply at a healthy discount. There are some small set up costs in applying for the liquor licence, buying a printer/computer, and setting up your home office but these payments are not made to us.

How profitable is it?

We can not disclose our profit margins here; that will be discussed in detail when you meet with us. Let’s just say it is very healthy. You have flexibility and control as long as you work within our guidelines.

However we make no claims or representations about your sales or profits. Unlike some businesses or franchises for sale we do not ask for money up front in return for false promises or over inflated projections. You will get out of this business as much as you put in. It depends completely on your personality and confidence, your marketing and sales skills, your networking in your local community, the time you invest in your business and the demographics of the region. What we do offer is a proven range of wines at great prices, business owners with years of experience in the wine business, and plenty of support. The rest is up to you!
