Prospect research and transcribing volunteer – Major Gifts Team

MSF

Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors without Borders (MSF) is a leading international independent aid organisation, dedicated to providing expert medical relief to vulnerable populations at times of conflict or disaster. In over 60 countries worldwide, MSF provides both life-saving emergency relief and longer-term assistance to make healthcare services available to the most vulnerable or excluded communities.

MSF UK is one of over 20 offices and operational centres in Europe, the Americas, Asia and Australasia, pooling funding, expertise and staff for field operations. There are currently 6 departments within the UK office: fundraising, communications, finance, programmes, medical (called the Manson Unit) and human resources. We also have an Ireland office in Dublin.

Fundraising Department

Set up in 1996, MSF UK’s Fundraising Department raises private income for MSF field operations globally, and to cover MSF’s costs in the UK. Our goal is to build support, by bringing supporters closer to the populations in danger that MSF assists, and the medical action that private gifts make possible. In 2015 a team of 18 raised over £40 million.

Major Giving at MSF

MSF UK has a committed group of major donors made up of individuals, corporate supporters and trusts & foundations. We currently define a major donor as any supporter who donates £5,000 and above. We are a team of five and in 2015 we raised over £11 million from over 400 major donors.

MSF UK uses the CARE fundraising database system.
