PROVINCIAL TEAM SELECTION CRITERIA

(EFFECTIVE AS OF 31 JULY 2015)

GENERAL

Only players that are handicapped at a club affiliated to the BGU may be selected for a Border side.

The automatic selection of any player for any Border side is based on the Order of Merit stroke average of that player. This stroke average is calculated using the player’s tournament scores.

Taking into account the requirements which the Union sets for a specific team, if a player has played more than the minimum number of required rounds, then the best scores posted are used to determine his or her stroke average.

The selection period for a specific team begins immediately after the selection of the IPT side has been announced, as follows:

  1. Country Districts as from the conclusion of the NED Tournament
  2. Premier as from the conclusion of the Border Strokeplay
  3. Mid-Amateuras from the conclusion of the Border Strokeplay

The BGU reserves the right to refrain from selecting a provincial side for any of the levels reflected below if, in the opinion of the Executive Committee of the BGU, a team selected would not be competitive at the specific IPT.

Irrespective of the position of any player on the OOM, the BGU may instruct the selectors of a specific side to overlook such a player where that player has a poor disciplinary record at either club or provincial level.
