Proposal Outline

Applications for the Luke Stalker Global Fellowship must include the Online Application, Personal Statement, Proposal Outline (this document), Budget Form and Letters of Recommendation.

Proposal Guidelines

Proposals must follow the outline below and be presented in single-spaced,Times New Roman 12 point font. For sections where a word count range is given, applicants must adhere to the word count.

A proposal may not require information under all headings. If a section does not apply to your project, please type “N/A” (not applicable) under the section heading.

In order to evaluate your proposal effectively, the Committee needs to know what you will do, how you will do it, the significance of the project to your life, the timeline for completion of the project, how much it will cost and what you hope to gain from the experience.

II.Duration

Over what period of time will the experience take place?

III.Location

Where will the experience happen?

IV.Description of proposed experience (300-700 words)

Describe what you propose to do.How will you integrate with the community?

V.Preparation (400-800 words)

Detail what tools and planning you will need to complete to ensure a safe and positive intercultural experience. This section may include but is not limited to:

A.The types of interactions you will seek out and their purpose;

B.The background reading or research (cultural, language or otherwise) required;

C.Pre-departure cultural training you will participate in (may be through your partner organization/university or The Project for Learning Abroad, Training, and Outreach’s Global Scholar Online Course.)

VI.Significance of the experience (300-500 words)

This section should answer the questions: (1.) What impact (positive or negative) do you think your project will have on your host community? (2.) How might your experience help bridge cultures and promote global good?

VII.University or Sponsoring Organization

Name of the program you will register with (eg. A university or nonprofit organization) and the name of the specific program in which you will participate.Include information on any support services the partner program provides (eg. An advisor, insurance, etc.)

VIII.Project timetable

Prepare a general time schedule, giving the starting date, significant dates at which major portions of work will be done, and the anticipated completion date.

IX.Financial

Scholarship amounts are determined annually by the Committee based on available funds. Complete this form (hyperlink), estimating in round figures.

X.References

You must provide 3 personal recommendations, including at least 1 academic recommendation, with contact information using this form (hyperlink). It is your responsibility to ensure your references complete the form and return it to prior to the application deadline.
