OVERVIEW
Greetings from Trivandrum Don Bosco Veedu Society!
Trivandrum Don Bosco Veedu Society is a Non Governmental Organization primarily working for the welfare and rehabilitation of poor and marginalized children, since 1991. Rescuing, Restoring and Rehabilitating children found on the streets are some of our major course of action.
We provide 24-hour emergency toll free phone helpline service for children in difficult circumstances in collaboration with the Ministry of Women and Child Development known as CHILDLINE (1098), networking with Kerala Government to find and restore Missing Children. Child Rights promotion and Advocating on behalf of children are another category we work on.
The Don Bosco Veedu Society has also initiated and is still into developmental activities for the slum children and women of Karimadom slum. This Society is run by Salesians of Don Bosco (SDB) which works among the poor youth in 132 countries.
The services rendered by the Society bring so much joy to the underprivileged children. And together we can transform their lives and build a brighter future.
SUMMARY
The fund raising proposal at Trivandrum Don Bosco Veedu Society is aimed at only one category in the society – ‘Children’. This programme is primarily based on our shelter home, Don Bosco Nivas and its inmates.
Don Bosco Veedu Society shelters children rescued from streets and supports them. The ultimate aim of all our efforts is to humanize the world by serving the young especially those at risk. We believe that the young are our present and our future, the most precious and vulnerable portion of humanity and caring for them is caring for society. We offer them our unconditional service in close collaboration with all those who are engaged in their welfare.
To reach out to and rescue children and youth at risk*: to protect them; to restore them; to inspire them towards dignified life protected from abusive and dehumanizing situations, to advocate on their behalf to restore their rights and to be catalysts in the formation of a child friendly society.
It is enough that they are young for us to reach out to them with love in the spirit of Don Bosco the father and founder of this vast network.
* Trivandrum Don Bosco Veedu Society defines youth at risk as: street children and youth; child labourers; child beggars; unaccompanied and lost children; children in conflict with the law; abused children; abandoned children; runaways; and children from dysfunctional family environments
ABOUT THE PROJECT – OBJECTIVES
Our requirements for them are many. You too can share and partner with us to build a better world for children at Risk. We are not ashamed to ask; for what we do is authentic and we do require lot of support to continue the journey!
Objectives
A day’s food in our shelter home
Higher education of a child we support
To meet the rising cooking gas cost in our shelter home
Support our shelter home with toiletries, and stationery items.
To help poor children buy school materials for the next school year
Support our Life skill education programme (S4S) for school children
Help us provide a new set of dress for the children rescued from streets
Support the travel expenses of our staff for case follow up of at risk children
Sponsor our Vehicular awareness campaign for child safety net across the District
To form rain water harvesting system make environment friendly water conservation and reduce water costs
WHAT YOU CAN DO
Your help is required to sustain our work as ours is a charitable cause and we are a non profit organisation.
You can donate to the following causes:
- Sponsor a meal in our shelter home for children at risk
- Provide a set of new clothes for a rescued street child
- Help educate a child at different parts of the district via CHILDLINE.
- Contribute the expense to restore a child to his/her home.
- Celebrate your special occasions with our children
- Contribute in kind with grocery, stationery, vegetable, rice, etc
- Make a general contribution to our developmental activities.
- Teach your children social responsibility through interaction with our children.
