Semester and year proposal originally submitted:

The Honors Senior Capstone should showcase what students have learned to do in their majors and prepare students for the next step in their professional lives. Traditionally, the Honors College has required an original research paper of at least 25 pages, a creative work with a written introduction indicating knowledge of trends in the medium, or a service project that the student originated, organized, documented, and discussed in writing. All of these types of projects remain possibilities. The College is also open to projects that don’t fit in any of these categories if they represent a similar degree of rigor and amount of work and make sense in terms of the student’s goals.

Project Description

  1. What type of project will you complete? Please describe the project using the guidelines given below for the type of project you have planned as a starting point. Keep in mind that every project is different. You may vary from the guideline questions as appropriate.
  1. Research projects: What is your research question? What is original about your project? What research design/methodology will you use? What will your final product consist of?
  2. Creative projects: What will your final product consist of? Will there be a written component that positions your work in relation to current trends in your creative medium?
  3. Service projects: How did you learn about the need for the service you will provide? What research will you conduct to enable you to meet this need? What exactly will the service project consist of? What product will you submit?
  4. Other projects: What will the project consist of? Why does the project need doing? What product will you submit?
  1. How does this project move you in the direction of your goals for the future?
  2. How will the project demonstrate your skill in one or more of the eight foundations of Honors learning?
  3. What makes the project an Honors project? How is it different from a non-Honors capstone in your major?
