Dear Mr McMahon,

Proposal: Application Ref. 170021/DPP – Land at West Kingsford (north of the A944 Road), Aberdeen, AB15 8QR.

Thank you for consulting RSPB Scotland on the above proposal. We did not receive your original email, apparently sent on 16 January, so thank you for bringing this application to our attention last week.

We are concerned that this major development is proposed on green belt land, in contradiction to Aberdeen City Council’s Local Development Plan. The Environmental Statement has been submitted with little ornithological information. We are therefore unable to comment on the impacts on the local birdlife, and no details of the methodology used to assess this have so far been provided. Furthermore, many of the ecological surveys are due to be carried out after the Council is expected to reach a decision on the application.

We request that methodology and results of all ecological surveys are made available for comment before any decision is taken on this application by the council. We trust that any relevant information will be provided in a timely manner, allowing us to make informed comments on the proposal, before a final decision is made.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you require any further information.

Yours sincerely,

Amanda Biggins
Assistant Conservation Officer
