PROMOTION OF SCIENCE EDUCATION (POSE) SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME FOR STUDENTS OF UG AND PG SCIENCE COURSES

INTRODUCTION

In order to encourage meritorious students towards science education and to support them for continuation of their science education upto higher level, this office had started a scholarship scheme w.e.f. 2009-10 for the Under Graduate (Honours) and Post Graduate students opting for basic science subjects viz Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Mathematics and Geology. Every year 100 students each of B.Sc. (H) – 1st year and M.Sc. (Previous) are selected on merit basis. It has been observed that the B.Sc. (Honours) is being offered only by two Universities (MDU & CDLU) and very few colleges of MDU, Rohtak, therefore, very less (around 250 applications only) applications are being received in this office during past three years. However, the B.Sc. (General) courses i.e. Medical & Non-Medical streams are being offered throughout Haryana by all the universities / colleges offering science courses. Due to which the benefit of this scheme is restricted to limited students enrolling for B.Sc. (Honours) courses, whereas, the more meritorious candidates opting for B.Sc. (Medical or Non-Medical) are deprived from applying and competing for the benefits of this scholarship scheme. To overcome this constraint, it has been decided to amend this scheme for Under Graduate course of B.Sc. General (Medical & Non-medical groups) instead of B.Sc. (Honours) courses only. The scheme for Post Graduate students i.e. M.Sc. courses will remain the same.

The details of the scheme are as under:-
