PROJECT REPORT SHEET

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: COMBINATION LOCK

NAME: HaiBin WANG (Leon)

STUDENT ID: C05290

1.) Identify and list all material and components required for this project:

2 x LEDs, PIC (16F84A), 2 x 100mF& 2 x 22pF capacitors, 1k & 330 ohm, buzzer,

bc547 transistor, boards, etching solution, developer, 2 x 4pinhead, Keypad, crystal,

wires

2.) Identify and list the tools required to complete this project:

Long nose, power supply, side cutter, solder, solder iron, drill, Making PCB tools

3.) Describe steps required to complete this project:

1) Make a board using developer and etching solution and drill holes

2) Put all of components onto the board.

3) Solder all of components on the board

4) Program a PIC by eagle

5) Connect the supply (DC 6V) in the board.

6) Test

7) Modify wrong part of the program.

4.) Briefly describe circuit operation:

PIC is designed that the door opens by right number. The code “0”,”0”,”0”,”0” are saved. If we pressed the right number (0, 0, 0, 0) of the keypad, the door (red light) opens. If entered code is not the same, the buzzer sounds. When you want to change the code, press “#”, after that press the right number.

5.) Suggested application(s):

Door lock, security alarm

6.) Your observations and comments (if any):

7.) After completion, test the functionality of the device against requirements.

Describe in detail the testing process undertaken and record the data/values

Diagnose and rectify faults

Does the device operate correctly after completion? no

If no, complete sections below.

1.) Describe in detail the action(s) taken to diagnose the fault:

After we had completed the programming for combination lock, we tested the PIC

with the board that it dose not change a new code first time when we tried to change

four digital new code. But it does not change.

2.) Describe in details the action(s) taken to rectify the fault:

We changed the location of changed order programming

3.) List the faulty component(s) and/or adjustments required to rectify the fault:

No fault found

4.) Identify the tools required to diagnose the fault:

Long Nose

5.) Identify all material and components required to rectify the fault:

PIC programmer, power supply

6.) Identify the tools required to rectify the fault:

Long nose
