About the Job
Project Manager – HVAC Engineering
Manages the human, financial and operational resources necessary to meet contractual and company related obligations of the project to ensure profitability. Provides day-to-day leadership for the members assigned to the team and ensures ongoing communications with the customer. Actively participates in the execution of the project, interacts with the project team and the client to ensure open communications, and monitors quality of the system solution as well as the timelines and costs to ensure contractual obligations are respected.
Responsibilities
Project Management and Direction
- Manage several projects ensuring goals, timelines, resources and budget are aligned
- Must direct and oversee HVAC engineers assigned to projects at a distance in:
- developing appropriate HVAC designs for the different spaces onboard ships including all supporting calculations
- selecting appropriate system components based on the design and calculations
- preparing professional drawing packages (single lines, double lines, installation, and equipment drawings)
- preparing other project related documents (user manuals, training, etc.)
- Coordinate with Refrigeration and Controls Engineers to ensure their deliverables are aligned with the project requirements (design requirements and timelines & budget)
- Monitor progress and deliverables against plans and mitigate issues when they arise
- Monitor time &technical activities of the project and ensure that engineering deliverables meet contract requirements
- Coordinates suppliers’ deliverables with project timelines and ensure quality
- Manages all contract administration and stays on top of project budget (invoicing and costs)
Customer Management
- Acts as the primary point of contact with the customer
- Maintains communications with customer on project progress, issues and risks
- Manages scope and change requests in a proactive manner
- Monitors customer satisfaction and address concerns
- May participate in proposal development
Contract Management
- Monitor contract delivery (i.e., specifications, costs and customer satisfaction)
- May assist in the development and negotiation of contractual agreements and/or change requests
Background Prerequisites
A MinimumBachelor degree in Marine/Mechanical Engineering or similar
Experience in complex HVAC system engineering design (critical)
Experience in Engineering Project Management; good working knowledge of PM software
Good knowledge of project finance and cost control
PMP certification (an asset)
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written (English)
Excellent organization skills and capacity to juggle multiple tasks and resources at a distance
