Project Developer Job Description
Position Overview:
This position is a mix of energy engineering,sales and project management intended to provide strategic technical directionduring the project qualification/acquisition, project development, and project implementation periods of overall PC project development. The individual must have the engineering competency to envision and determine if a facility shows opportunity and can convert that vision into an executable plan. Following are some of the basic functions:
- Leads, plans and directsthe development of multiple large or complex projects from initial conceptual development to first-year monitoring and verification activities.
- Assists in identifying customer’s technical buyers’ business goals and needs to incorporate those into the sales strategy.
- Ensures that the technical buyers accept the proposal, and that the project manager understands the customer’s objectives.
Responsibilities:
Leads and directs the technical elementsduring project development. Provides the main interface with the customer’s technical team establishing a strong business relationship with all of the customer’s technical buyers. Establishes timeline for project deliverables, provides direction to the development team to produce and deliver a complete technical analysis of potential cost-saving opportunitiesand commissioning plan. Verifies project construction cost elementsandbecomes the key contact with EES project managers in pre-proposal / pre-contract reviews as well as sales to operations turnover meetings. Responsible for branch/district risk review of projects and participates in the development of all required documentation for contract approval.
Provides engineering/project management interface during project implementation.
Ensures installed project meets all required performance metrics and documents initial monitoring and verification activities are complete and accepted.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Experience:
-Complete understanding of the PC sales process (experience with Strategic Selling,Spin Selling and negotiations)
-Strong team leadership
-Excellent oral and written communication
-Adept at technical writing
-Certified project manager
-Knowledge of building codes and laws pertaining to the energy business and construction projects
-Experienced and highly skilled energy engineer
-Mechanical / electrical design knowledge
Vertical Market Knowledge – Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of our clients business for one or more vertical markets
Interpersonal Skills – Have the ability to develop businessrelationship within the district, clients organizations, and key technical vendors.
Financial – Understanding of financial structures and terms such as, NPV/IRR/ROI, amortization, cash flow and life-cycle cost analysis.
Legal and contractual knowledge – Demonstrate a knowledge of enabling state legislation, OSHA, AIA contracts and Siemens contracts
4 year engineering degree or equivalent
Professional Engineering (PE) license
Certified Energy Manager
10+ years in the Energy business with a proven history of progression from engineering to complete project responsibility
LEED AP, preferred
