Project Choices for Reading Points

**A bibliography attached to any project will add an additional point to their final score**

**ALL Language Arts rules (spelling, grammar, paragraph form, mechanics, etc.) must be present in the final product that is turned in for a grade**

**Plagiarism of any kind will NOT be tolerated and will result in a zero**

  • ABC Book - using each letter of the alphabet, represent a part of the story with a one paragraph explanation and page number; front and back cover is mandatory; inside illustrations are optional for an extra point 8points
  • Journal – write in first person as a character from the book; create 8 daily entries with a minimum length of 2 paragraphs per entry 6points
  • Comprehension Strategy Poster - represent each of the comprehension strategies
  • Prediction: predict what would come next at the end of the story (2 pararaphs)
  • Visualizing: illustrate and describe a character or situation (1 paragraph)
  • Questioning: choose 2 events in the story, pose a thought provokingquestion, and provide an answer (no yes/no questions)
  • Connecting: describe in paragraph detail 2 examples of how an event or person in the story is connected to you and your life (each example should be explained in its own paragraph)
  • Clarifying: choose 5 vocabulary words from the story that you did not know before you read the story and write the word, the definition, the part of speech, and page number
  • Summarizing: summarize,in paragraph form, a turning point in the story and explain why it was a turning point
  • Title and author must be represented 10 points
  • Alternate Ending - write an alternate ending to the story; minimum 2 pages 8points
  • PowerPoint - create a PowerPoint presentation that includes a slide for each of the following:
  • Slide 1: explain information in 1 paragraph about the protagonist (the lead character or hero) and 1 paragraph about the antagonist (the opponent or person posing a problem)
  • Slide 2: describe the plot in 2 paragraphs
  • Slide 3: describe the tone/emotion in the story in 1 paragraph
  • Slide 4: choose 3 characters and a decision that each of them made in the story, and why they made the decisions
  • Slide 5: explain why the 3 previous characters feel the way they do about those decisions
  • Slide 6: explain in one paragraph why the ending does or does not fit the story

  • Character Sketch - include an original drawing based on the how the character has been described in the book and write a 2 paragraph description (your drawing must reflect and explain your description); one paragraph uses 3 adjectives to describe and the next paragraph uses 3 adverbs to describe (highlight the adjectives and adverbs that were used) 8 points
