POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Human Rights Arts & Film Festival (HRAFF) is looking for an experienced, passionate, and hard-working Melbourne-based individual to join HRAFF as Programming Managerin the lead up to the 2018 festival.

HRAFF is a not-for-profit incorporated association committed to making human rights accessible, relevant and significant to all Australians. The Festival aims to advance and encourage discussion and debate among the broader community, to showcase and support Australian and international artists, to promote works that are important and relevant to our community and bring audiences closer to relevant organizations operating in the human rights space.

HRAFF presents a vibrant, multifaceted festival, including film, visual art, music and forums that combine a diverse array of creative responses to contemporary human rights issues. More information can be found here:

WORKING HOURS

The expected time commitment for the role is four days (32 hours) per week until 30 June.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Programming Manager oversees programs and manages all aspects of the annual

festival’soperational delivery.

  • Ensures that the festival operates smoothly and deadlines are met and come within

budget.

  • Recruit and supervise festival staff and volunteers.
  • Undertaken and maintain festival administration as it pertains to the festival
  • Support fundraising efforts that include sponsorships, grant proposals and fundraising

events.

  • Oversee the management of ticketing.
  • Secure venues for screenings and other festival events, and oversee the management of

venue operations.

  • Secure equipment and technical personnel needed for festival delivery.
  • Develop content briefs and pull together other related festival materials.
  • Support efforts in publicity and marketing.
  • Liaise with venues, talent, film distributors and other key stakeholders to ensure festival is

well coordinated.

  • Guest management for all filmmaker, artist and speaker guests. This will include booking

flights and accommodation, event schedules and being the point of contact at festival
events.

  • Monitor festival attendance and write post festival report on programming.

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Excellent project coordination, time management, and organizational skills with the ability

to juggle and prioritize multiple projects.

  • Ability to delegate responsibilities and foster positive relationships and teamwork among

staff and volunteers.

  • Proven record of excellence and achievement in delivery of programming events.
  • Proven ability to develop budgets, undertake forecasting and undertake financial reporting

on events.

  • Previous experience using Excel.
  • Fundraising experience, including managing fundraising events and generating donations

and sponsorships.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of technical formats for film and digital video projection.
  • Must be flexible and willing to work long hours or weeknights and weekends when

necessary.

  • Willingness to “roll up sleeves and do whatever is needed to get the job done.”
