SUB-ACUTE CARE

PROGRAM SUPERVISOR

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for the day to day operation, supervision, and management of assigned programs and staff.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  1. Responsible for services provided within assigned programs and assisting in meeting program goals and objectives.
  2. Promote communication and cooperation among all agency programs.
  3. Maintain appropriate personal and professional boundaries and awareness regarding residents, families, co-workers, and community resources, etc.
  4. Regularly assess team dynamics and provide leadership to all program staff to promote communication and cooperation among employees. Provide linkage and mediation for staff members within program management team and program team.
  5. Ensure staff and program compliance with licensing, accreditation, and contract standards and requirements applicable to programs.
  6. Ensure compliance with agency/program policies and procedures and that new employees are oriented and trained regarding the same.
  7. Assist with facilitating and maintaining a staff development program which meets the agency and unit goals.
  8. Participate and help lead in program planning, development and evaluation.
  9. Ensure, through program oversight, the safety of resident-customers and promote a therapeutic environment.
  10. Utilize verbal de-escalation skills during crisis intervention to include IASSIST and IESCAPE.
  11. Maintain an awareness of the program’s physical environment and report maintenance and facility safety concerns to appropriate personnel.
  12. Review and ensure completion of all staff required documentation to ensure thoroughness, accuracy, the health and safety of residents, and consistency in treatment.
  13. Provide regular and timely supervision to staff and maintain documentation of supervision meetings.
  14. Interview and recommend appropriate candidates for employment/termination.
  15. Complete performance evaluations of staff and complete individual or group corrective action plans as necessary.
  16. Oversee staff schedule to ensure compliance with WAC and licensing requirements.
  17. Oversee, coordinate, and ensure implementation of client individual treatment plan goals and objectives that pertain to the cottage milieu.
  18. Ensure that all medications are administered and documented according to agency/program policies and procedures. Train Behavior Specialists in medication distribution policies and procedures.
  19. Approach families in a manner consistent with agency and program philosophy, treatment plans, placement plans, and individual treatment programs.
  20. Oversee all program intakes and discharges.
  21. Be available for emergency consultation to Behavior Specialists, Leads, and Assistant Supervisors.
  22. Oversee cottage requisition and petty cash records.
  23. Seek and/or utilize feed back provided by supervisor for professional development.
  24. Maintain all necessary credentials per agency and licensing requirements.
  25. Help facilitate agency-wide trainings asassigned.
  26. Take responsibility for the residential program’s on-call system on a rotating basis.
  27. Participate in medical consultation as necessary under the direction of the Medical Director.
  28. Assist with private pay client cases as appropriate.
  29. Demonstrate a high degree of skill in communication and positive interaction with all Ryther employees, prospective employees, external agencies/companies and the community at large.
  30. Perform all other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Commitment to the Vision, Values and Mission of the agency.
  2. Acceptance of a variety of lifestyles, behaviors, cultural, and spiritual practices.
  3. 21 years of age.
  4. Masters' Degree in relevant fieldOR Bachelor’s Degree withat least five years of experience supervising residential/home-based programs for children, youth and/or families OR nursing degree with 5 years of experience in child mental health.
  5. Maintain all necessary credentials per agency and licensing requirements.
  6. Knowledge and understanding of family-centered practice principles.
  7. Knowledge and understanding of residential treatment, child mental health practices, and the effects of trauma on children.
  8. Valid Washington state driver's license.
  9. Ability to drive agency vehicles and have a good driving record.
  10. Ability to exercise discretion and maintain customer and employee confidentiality.
  11. Ability to maintain awareness of culturally relevant issues while interaction with clients, families, co-workers, and community members.
  12. Ability to work within a strengths-based model.
  13. Ability to work within the framework of a therapeutic milieu.
  14. Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  15. Flexibility and ability to work a varied schedule including evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
  16. Ability to perform verbal de-escalation and physical intervention restraints.
  17. Ability to perform a range of physical motions including but not limited to:

lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.,

standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time,

kneeling, squatting, and stooping,

running for brief periods of time,

  1. Ability to use the senses of sight, hearing to effectively supervise resident-customers.
