Profile: Regional Adviser Emergency, P-5, Amman Regional Office, Jordan

1.Interest and in-depth understanding of geopolitical analysis, and good knowledge of both development/DRR/emergency/recovery issues.

2.Proven exposure to both natural disasters and complex political and security environment programmatic response contexts.

3.In-depth understanding of international humanitarian and human rights law, as well as humanitarian reform and development aid frameworks and management systems both around development and humanitarian response/peacekeeping

4.Previous experience in a managerial role (e.g. Deputy Representative or Chief , Field Office, Chief Emergencies) in crisis environments and ability to lead, motivate and attract the best staff.

5.Experience in working in high-risk environment and/or humanitarian crisis response in complex political environment is an asset.

6.Capacity to have a vision, be dynamic/creative and identify opportunities for innovation

7.Capacity to work harmoniously and collaboratively with all colleagues at all levels of the organization (from field office to HQ level).

8.Capacity to reach out to and strengthen partnerships at national and regional levels

9.Very strong communication skills, both oral and written. Previous experience or involvement in communication/advocacy an asset.

10.Capacity to ensure high level representation and good resource mobilization skills.

11.Experience of both UN and INGOs would be an asset

12.Solid understanding of UN security accountability frameworks
