Deborah Clayton-Smyth

Deborah is a Support Services Administrator with 30 years experience working within Social Care and Health local authority settings in a variety of administrative and supervisory roles.

Experience

Worked for Birmingham City Council for 15 years in a number of administrative posts for social work teams within children’s services and adoption and fostering. These roles involved full administrative and financial support and included the supervision of staff.

Key tasks included:

·  Develop and maintain administrative and financial systems

·  Staff supervision

·  Administrator to the adoption and fostering panel including minute taking

·  Providing cover at various offices and establishments

·  Use of IT systems

·  Flexible working, excellent organisational skills

Current Role

Joined Staffordshire County Council in April 1999 as Support Service Administrator at Stafford Day Service, a day service provision for adults with a learning disability. In addition to administrative and financial tasks, the role involved supervision of ancillary staff and management of the provisions and budgets etc. for the kitchen.

Since November 2011 worked one day per week with the Deputyship and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Team, managing a caseload of 11 service users who are subject to Court of Protection Deputyship Orders which entails managing finances on their behalf.

In addition to the above, since October 2012 provided admin support to the Service Delivery Lead and Staffordshire Cares Managers specifically around the Department’s modernisation programme for learning disability and older peoples services. This involves organising and minuting meetings, including disciplinary hearings, collation of data and information.

Enjoys working within an environment that helps vulnerable people in assisting to ensuring best possible outcomes for them. Also enjoys the three roles within current post that provide varying work tasks.
