Professor Emeritus Nomination Form
For Recognition at the 149th Annual Commencement

MINIMUM CRITERIA
§ All faculty members who have fifteen (15) or more years of service at Gallaudet University (with at least 10 years as a faculty member) and who served as a full-time, tenured, regular status faculty member may be automatically reviewed for Professor Emeritus when they retire. Faculty who are considered exemplary will have had at least an annual or triennial evaluation (DRE) within three years of their retirement with no unsatisfactory ratings in the areas of teaching, service, and scholarship. Individuals who were awarded tenure while teaching at Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center, and who subsequently became full-time, tenured, regular status faculty members at Gallaudet University, may be nominated if their total service is 15 or more years.
§ Faculty members not automatically selected to be considered by the Provost can be nominated by (a) the department where faculty rank is held or (b) at least two faculty members from any academic department, and recommended to the Board of Trustees from the faculty Committee on Honorary Degrees.
§ Current possession of University faculty rank, or retirement within the last ten years, or by the end of the 2018-2019 academic year.
§ Faculty members who die before retiring may be awarded posthumously if they meet the minimum criteria.
