Igeho 2017: The future of the hospitality industry à la carte
Igeho will be opening its doors at Messe Basel from 18 to 22 November 2017. The international exhibition for hotels, catering, take-away and care moves with the times and shows how trends can be combined with tradition. Exciting speakers, panel discussions and networking at all levels are on the agenda every day. And fun and enjoyment are naturally written big too.
Hotels, catering and tourism are closely tied to trends but are also intended to keep long-standing traditions alive. Igeho is the meeting point for all industry representatives who successfully manage to achieve this balancing act day-in day-out.
The hotel trade undergoing a digital transformation
Igeho Campus is the platform for interaction and stimuli. This is where people expand their network and benefit in lectures and panel discussions from the experience and findings of the experts. The topics covered are both versatile and exciting: “Will Switzerland survive as a high-price island?”, “Fit for the digital age” and “Hotels today and in the future”. Presented by hotelier and host Max Loong, they promise to provide interesting approaches and exchanges of ideas. And the speakers too couldn’t be more exciting: EU youth ambassador Ali Mahlodji will be speaking on the topic of “Simplicity through storytelling – on the leadership of a new generation”. And bestselling author and storytelling expert Dr. Veit Etzold will be talking about “Digital storytelling: to tell is to sell – greater attention, more guests, bigger margins”.
Professional cooks and young talent
And, of course, fun and enjoyment are written big at Igeho too. In the fully equipped show kitchen in the Chefs’ Arena star chefs and young talents let visitors take a look inside their pots, present their excellent kitchen philosophies and share their recipes for success. And the established Restaurant CH will be opening its doors once again. Here, final-year students from the Belvoir Park Hotel and Restaurant Management School will be demonstrating their skills. On the menu are typical Swiss dishes and regional delicacies. The food can also be purchased as a take-away or ordered and paid for online using the “MENU – deinmobiler Kellner” (Your mobile waiter) app,
Top-notch accompanying events
On 21 and 22 November 2017, Igeho is hosting the 2nd Swiss Hospitality Investment Forum (SHIF) in the Congress Center Basel. Among other things, this provides an opportunity for hotel and restaurant owners, brand representatives and private and commercial investors to engage in discussions with one another. Mefa is similarly being staged in parallel to Igeho. This specialist fair for the meat trade and food production is the biggest and most important industry meeting point in Switzerland, presenting the “prime cuts” of the meat trade, as it were.
New concepts at Igeho
The innovations at this year’s Igeho include “Spa Competence” offering sound specialist knowledge on everything to do with spas, fitness and wellness – for visitors to immerse themselves in and marvel at! There is also a great deal to be discovered when it comes to "Pool and Garden”, including the attractive show garden conveying people into a world of sensual experiences. The “Planner’s Meeting Point” marks the first step towards making conversion dreams come true. Startups and newcomers to Igehowill be presenting themselves in the “Newcomer’s Area”. Innovative products and new ideas – people who don’t discover anything here will presumably not discover anything anywhere. And last but not least, probably the most popular vehicles of all will be standing in Hall 1.0 Süd – the food trucks. Here there is everything that a gourmet could wish for – from curried sausage andpasta right through to frozen yoghurt. Bon appetit!
