Entry Information:
Parade entry applications are now being accepted for the 2017Holiday Caravan Parade®. Entry deadline is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 3, 2017
The Holiday Caravan Parade is a non-profit volunteer venture for the enjoyment of the greater community. Entry fees are required and necessary to help offset the nearly $50,000 in expenses the parade producers incur each year.
Entry fees for 2017 are as follows:
** ALL ENTRIESARE BY INVITATION AND HAVE TO BE APPROVED BY THE HOLIDAY CARAVAN BOARD**
Non – Profit / Volunteer organizations, Churches need to show a 501C3 , regular entries cost will be $100 non-refundable,with the exception of the following:
Dignitaries & Civic Group Queens the entry fee will be $100.00
Dance Groups & Cloggers the cost will be $150.00 per unit. A unit will consist of a float or marching unit with car(supplying music.)
All commercial entries/commercial business queens will be charged a commercial entry fee of $250.00.
Professional float rentals (If renting one through Holiday Caravan the cost is $625.00limited in quantity, You may furnish your own and the entry fee will be $250.00)
* School Entries Available at No Charge (limited number):
Any accredited high school with a participating marching band submitting and obtaining an approved application by the deadline to participate in the Holiday Caravan Parade will be allowed to have the following entries in the Holiday Caravan Parade at no charge:
A. / 1 high school marching band
(Bands are encouraged to play holiday music. RowanCounty bands will rotate in the parade lineup from year to year – first this year will be last next year, etc.)
B. / 1 JROTC marching group
C. / 1 car with the high school homecoming court (king/queen)
D. / 1 car with Miss Merry Christmas or other organized high school pageant winner
E. / 2 vehicles from high school civic and/or activity groups (first 2 applications per school will be accepted; all others will require an entry fee)
F. / 1 vehicle containing varsity cheerleaders
(Varsity cheerleaders may ride in a decorated car or truck, on a single axle float, or march behind the band, with approval from the band director.)
(All accredited high schools may have more entries than the 7 free entries allowed above, but an entry fee will apply to each entry over 7.)
Middle Schools are allowed 2 entries free on first come first serve.
Private Schools are allowed 2 entries free on first come first serve.

    (Business floats built by non-professionals) (MOST OUTSTANDING)
  3. NON-PROFESSIONAL/NON-BUSINESS FLOATS (3 trophies)
    (Non-Business floats built by non-professionals)
BANDS
  1. HONOR BAND AWARD - First Place Band (trophy)
    One award based on music selection, appearance, etc.
  2. BEST FLAG SQUAD
    One award based on appearance, general effect and coordination, etc.
  3. BEST DRUM MAJOR/MARJORETTES
    One award based on leadership, general effect, spirit and performance.
DANCE GROUP
One award based on appearance, movement, and coordination, etc.
JROTC GROUP
One award based on Overall appearance, general effect, coordination etc.
GENERAL
(Every unit is eligible for these awards, including those not judged in their particular category)
  1. GENERAL CHAIRMAN'S AWARD - Most unusual entry
  2. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S AWARD- Most original entry
  3. JUDGES' AWARD - Entry with the best depiction of "Happy Holidays" theme.
  4. BEST RELIGIOUS ENTRY - Entry best depicting the religious aspect of the holidays.
CARL E WEINBRUNN AWARD
Best overall entry in the parade (EVERY UNIT IS ELIGIBLE)
NOTE: Winners may be disqualified from awards/recognitions if the judges are notified by the Holiday Caravan officials of policy violations by an entry, such as late arrival at the marshalling area, throwing of candy, safety violations, etc. Please review Policy and Procedures carefully.
