Meeting Minutes

October 3, 2006

Meeting called to order by Jillian Jones at 2:05 p.m.

Minutes from the September 11, 2006, meeting were approved.

Treasurer Report

None given for this meeting.

Old Business

Survey—Jillian asked the committee to look over old questions, make additions or suggestions to be included.

Lunch and Learn Programs—The first two Lunch and Learn Customer Service seminarswere held on Friday, September 22, and Tuesday, September 26, from 12:30 to 1:30 pm. There were 7 and 18 people attending, respectively. It was suggested that we use some end-of-the-year money to purchase more videos for other Lunch and Learn Seminars.

Book Scholarships—A draft of the application was circulated at the meeting. The amount for FY07 was recommended to be $200 for two staff members. This amount was approved unanimously. The requirement of returning unused funds was deleted and a statement about the funds if one drops out of school will be added that will be similar to the TAP requirements. Jillian will put a link to the revised form and send this link to PDC members.

Purchasing Adobe Acrobat Professional—Adobe Acrobat Professional has been ordered and is expected to arrive in two to three weeks. This will help convert Staff Mattersand will be passed along to the PR Coordinator each year.

New Business

Other seminars—Alina has contacted a speaker for an October Minute Taking seminar. The cost will be $250 and Alina is checking on room availability for a Tuesday or Thursday from around 10-11:30 AM. For November’s seminar, Mark Dadonna will do a Stress Reduction seminar during the week of November 14th in the afternoon. Alina is checking on room availability. For January, Dr. Dwedor Ford, can present a technical writing, email communication seminar. Alina will try to find a room and date for this.

Certificates were printed for all participants in the Lunch and Learn Seminars. Jillian will sign these this week.

Funds Remaining—Jillian is checking on the end of the year speaker for an estimated cost for the speaker so we know how much funding is still available for training.

Drawings at Seminars—It was suggested that we get donations for drawings at each seminar that relate to the subject. For the minute taking seminar, University RideShare will donate two folios. For the stress reduction seminar, we will try to get a gift certificate for a massage.

Next meeting is scheduled on Thursday, November 2. Other PDC meetings will be on November 21, January 2, February 6, March 6, April 3 and 24, and June 5.
