General Updates:

·  Jill created MDMLG Speaker Agreement Forms based on the MHSLA Speaker Agreement Forms. These are now available on the MDMLG website thanks to Valerie Reid!

Upcoming Programming:

In Person CEs:

·  Fall Combined General Meeting & CE: Appreciating Diversity: A Workshop for Health Sciences Librarians (Committee Member Leader: Stephanie)

o  Date: Thursday, November 16, 2017; 11:00am – 3:30pm; Troy Community Center

o  MLA CE Credits: 2

o  Instructor: Misa Mi

o  Registrants: 9 (as of Nov 1)

o  Based on our projected budget, we decided to offer this CE free to MDMLG members and $20 to non-members.

·  Spring CE: Financial Advocacy: Turning Data into Ammunition (Committee Member Leader: Jill)

o  Tentative Date: Thursday, April 19, 2018; 9:00am – 12:00pm; University of Detroit Mercy

o  MLA CE Credits: 3

o  Instructor: Barbara Jones. This course is currently an NN/LM MidContinental Region course and is not offered by the GMR so we will have to pay the traditional speaker and travel fees. Barbara is willing and available to teach it.

o  Jill, Bethany, and Ella are taking the lead on submitting a GMR application for the Professional Development Award to cover all costs for bringing in this CE course and plan to submit it soon.

Question for Discussion by the Board: Is it worth offering in-person CEs moving forward with the increase in MLA webinar offerings and the trending decreased attendance at physical CEs?

The following table & chart provide a breakdown of CEs offered over the last four calendar years (2014 - 2017).
