Constitution Review

  • Professional Council does not provide “binding” votes that all professional staff. This is different from the Staff and Faculty senates. These groups are “higher” in the governance structure.
  • This is purely by how our contracts were written and how we became employed (professional contract versus classified employee.)
  • Stronger in and advisory role than decision making authority.
  • We have a great opportunity to advise and guide.

Communication

  • Send newsletter out to all professionals 1X per month
  • Communicate using our listserv
  • Special Outreach when necessary like surveys through email.
  • Response rates have been very low.
  • What can we do to engage more professionals on campus?
  • All meetings are open to the public.

Social Engagement

  • Spring Social – every year. This is well attended. Last year over 100 professionals.
  • We have a budget from the President’s Office of $3500 per year. We only spent $1000 for the spring social.
  • Homecoming Social – (Fall and Spring socials this year)
  • September 30 tailgating party
  • Facebook page/Twitter
  • Pro Council flyer
  • Donate basket to Welcome Back picnic
  • Raise the profile of Pro Council

Logistics

  • Meeting time and place
  • Book two-hours 1X per month instead of 2 one-hour meetings per month
  • Book in mornings when can
  • Stay away from Mondays and Fridays
