Professional Medical Coding Classes

What: 20 week classroom instruction for medical coders of physician services. This program is designed to prepare the student to sit for the AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC™) exam. This class will include instruction in ICD-9-CM diagnosis coding, CPT-4 procedure coding, evaluation and management coding and HCPCS coding. It also will include exposure to medical terminology and anatomy.

When: First class is scheduled for Tuesday, August 6, 2008 from 5:30-9:00 pm.

Where: Henry Ford Health System, One Ford Place, Room 5D53, Detroit, MI 48202

Prerequisites: It is recommended that participants have at least 1-2 years experience in the medical coding field and have taken a course in medical terminology and anatomy. If your experience is different than what is specified, please contact the instructor.

Cost: $1800. $200 is due at time of registration to hold your place in class. $800 is due August 6, the first night of class. $400 is due September 23 and $400 is due November 4. Payment can be made by certified check or money order made out to Professional Coding Services, LLC. Payment can also be made by credit card through PAYPAL. What is included: Twenty 3.5 hour classes and an all day review class for a total of 80 hours classroom instruction, student workbooks, prepared handouts, proctored exam and exam fees, exam review and preparation class, one year AAPC student membership and subscription to AAPC Coding Edge magazine. (If you are already a member of the AAPC deduct $70 from the above total)

Class size is limited. Participants are required to bring their own 2008 ICD-9-CM book (any version), 2008 CPT 4 book (AMA Professional Edition), and 2008 HCPCS book. Instruction will begin with ICD9. Participants should plan on at least 6-8 hours of home study time per week.
