This product guide specification is written according to the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI)

3-Part Format, including MasterFormat, SectionFormat, and PageFormat, as described in The Project Resource Manual – CSI Manual of Practice.

This Section must be carefully reviewed and edited by the Architect to meet the Project specific requirements and local building code. Coordinate this Section with other specification sections and the Drawings.

1.2  SUBMITTALS

1. Product Data: Submit product data for each type of product used on project with full model number.
2. Hardware Schedule:
3. Submit hardware schedule detailing hardware to be provided at each opening for coordination with gates, frames and related work.
4. For load bearing hardware provide product information showing quantity and type of hardware recommended by manufacturer to safely carry weight of gate and other applied loads.

C.  Installation Instructions: Submit manufacturer’s installation instruction for each hardware device. Mark installation instructions to indicate mounting heights for all operable hardware showing compliance with applicable codes requirements.

2. TruClose safety gate hinges are injection-molded from super-strong engineering polymers and stainless steel construction that provides many years of reliable and rust free performance. They are UV stabilized so there is no color fade and can be used in all weather conditions.
3. Gates of different sizes and weights incur different loads, so the ability to adjust tension safely and easily is critical, especially in child safety areas. The unique, patented spring loaded adjustor allows for quick, incremental tension adjustment using only a screwdriver
4. TruClose hinges features a variety of sizes and designs to suit all fence materials. The Regular range is for smaller gates and the Heavy Duty range is for larger, heavier gates and high-traffic applications. Models are available for virtually every gate.

1)  TruClose Heavy Duty models are designed for large, heavy gates as well as high traffic gates. They are ideal for both residential and commercial applications. All Heavy Duty hinges will self-close gates up to 132 lb (60kg).

2)  The Standard models do not have any side fixing legs although they do come with an alignment ridge to help align the hinges against corner of post.

3)  Standard models are designed for both new gates and for retrofitting existing gates as they will fit gate gaps ranging from 1/4"- 1" (6-25mm). They carry a point load capacity of 700 lb (318kg).

4)  No fasteners included. Use 12 gauge for Heavy Duty models.

5)  NOTE: All Heavy Duty self-closing and point load ratings are based upon one pair of hinges on a gate size of 6’H x 4’W (1,830H x 1,220mmW).

1)  TruClose Heavy Duty models are designed for large, heavy gates as well as high traffic gates. They are ideal for both residential and commercial applications. All Heavy Duty hinges will self-close gates up to 132 lb (60kg).

2)  Double alignment leg models (L2) provide quick alignment and double face fixing to both the gate and post reducing installation time and increased fixing strength. They are designed for new construction where a fixed gate gap of 3/4” (19mm) is allowed. L2 models carry a 1,000 lb (453kg) point load capacity.

3)  Single alignment leg models (L1) provide the same benefits of the L2 models but with only one side fixing leg. This provides double face fixing on either the gate or post and gives the flexibility of gap variance found on the Standard models, 1/4"- 1" (6-25mm). L1 models carry a point load capacity of 700 lb (318kg).

4)  TCHD2-L1S model has one alignment leg and has slotted fixing holes on one side to provide horizontal adjustment during and after installation.

They have a gap variance of ¾” to 1-3/8” (19-35mm) and carry a 700 lb (318kg) point load capacity.

3)  Each pair is packed as a kit that includes shims / adapters to fit a variety of gate and post diameters.

4)  TCHDRND1-MK2 is designed to fit gate diameters of 1-3/8” and 1-5/8” (35 and 41mm) and fence post diameters of 1-7/8” - 2”, 2-3/8” and 2-7/8” (48-50, 60 and 73mm).

5)  TCHDRND2-MK2 is designed to fit gate diameters of 1-7/8” – 2” (48-50mm) and fence post diameters of 1-7/8” - 2” and 2-7/8” (48-50 & 73mm).
