PRODUCT DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING REQUIREMENTS

PART 1GENERAL

  6. PRODUCT TRANSPORTATION AND DELIVERY
  7. Transport and handle products in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
  8. Schedule delivery to minimize long-term storage at the site and to prevent overcrowding of construction spaces.
  9. Coordinate delivery with installation time to ensure minimum holding time for items that are flammable, toxic, easily damaged, or sensitive to deterioration, theft and other losses.
  10. Deliver products to the site in the manufacturer's original sealed container or other packaging system, complete with labels and instructions for handling, storing, unpacking, protecting and installing.
  11. Promptly inspect shipments to assure that products comply with requirements, quantities are correct, and products are undamaged.
  12. Provide equipment and personnel to handle products by methods to prevent soiling, disfigurement, or damage.
  13. Keep and maintain shipping receipts, damage reports, and other shipping/delivery documentation as project records.
  14. Defective materials and products shall not be acceptable.
  15. PRODUCT STORAGE, PROTECTION AND HANDLING
  16. Store products at the site in a manner that shall facilitate inspection and measurement of quantity or counting of units.
  17. Periodically inspect storage areas to assure products are undamaged and are maintained under specified conditions.
  18. Make stored materials available for Owner’s inspection and inventory prior to and on dates of project meetings.
  19. Store and protect products in accordance with manufacturer's instructions, with seals and labels intact and legible.
  20. Protect sensitive materials from weather and climate.
  21. Maintain temperature and humidity within range required by manufacturer's instructions.
  22. Store heavy materials away from the Project structure in a manner that shall not endanger the supporting construction.
  23. Exterior Storage:
  24. Store fabricated products above ground on blocking or skids to prevent soiling or staining.
  25. Cover products subject to deterioration with impervious sheet covering.

(a)Provide ventilation to avoid condensation.

(b)Ensure Adequate Drainage: Shall not allow standing water on top of impervious sheeting.

  1. Loose Granular Materials (including sands and other aggregates):

(a)Store on well drained solid surfaces only.

(b)Cover with impervious sheet covering or provide other weatherproof enclosure.

  1. Prevent mixing with ground, run-off, sprayed or spilled contaminants.
  1. Provide equipment and personnel to store and handle products by methods to prevent soiling, disfigurement, or damage.
  2. Replace materials improperly transported, stored or handled at no additional cost to the Owner.
  3. Defective materials or products shall not be acceptable.
