PROCESS FOR AWARDING CEU CREDIT

All training and workshop review and approval to offer CEU credit will be handled through the NCRPA office. Any request to offer CEU’s must be in the NCRPA office at least 30 days prior to the training or workshop. Before receiving approval, a workshop can only list “CEU’s pending”.

A request to offer CEU’s must include:

Need Identification – a clear statement about why the workshop is being offered.

Learning Outcomes – a statement about the educational objectives of the workshop. (When writing the learning outcomes, verbs which are not observable and measurable cannot be used. Suggested verbs include: count, define, describe, identify, list, name, outline, quote, read, recall, recognize, reproduce, state, write, discuss, estimate, give examples, predict, and summarize.)

Instructors – a resume or vita for each speaker

Content – an outline of the workshop with format, time, and instruction information.

Evaluation – a description or copy of evaluation method.

At least 3 hours of training (.3 CEU’s) must be offered to apply for CEU’s. Every 1 hour of training equals .1 CEU. All CEU sessions must include an additional 10-15 minutes for introductions and various announcements, thus allowing for a full 60 minutes of education which equals .1 CEU. All sessions or programs must meet the NCRPA requirement of 1 hour and 15 minutes in length. Sessions may be allocated as follows:

  • Three 1 hour and 15 minutes sessions = .3 CEUs
  • One 3 hour and 15 minutes session = .3 CEUs
  • Two 1 hour and 40 minutes sessions = .3 CEUs
  • One 2 hour and 15 minutes session plus one 1 hour and 15 minutes session = .3 CEUs

No CEU forms can be distributed after the first 10 minutes of the session. To receive CEU’s, a delegate must arrive within 10 minutes of the start of the CEU session.

Any training or workshop requesting CEU approval should include a CEU fee in their registration fee. All participants registered (even if they don’t request CEU’s) will be charged for CEU’s. Cost for CEU’s will be:

  • $5/person if .5 or less CEU’s is offered.
  • $10/person if .6 or more CEU’s is offered.

The planning committee must provide an on-site coordinator to monitor and verify CEU’s. Within 2 weeks after the workshop, the following must be returned to NCRPA:

  • All CEU fees
  • An alphabetized list of participants
  • Completed and verified CEU forms (this form is supplied by NCRPA)

The above information should answer any question regarding training or workshop wishing to offer CEU’s. If there are further questions, please contact:
