Purpose:
The purpose of this procedure is to document DAI commitment to Responsible Care Guiding Principles and associated Product and Process Safety Codes. This procedure has been written to meet the requirements of RC14001© technical specification.
Scope:
This procedure applies to all facilities, employees and activities associated with Responsible Care within Daikin America, Inc.
Definitions:
Stakeholders – persons, groups or organizations impacted, or potentially impacted, by the company’s operations
OSHA VPP – Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Voluntary Protection Program
SHES – Safety, Health, Environmental and Security

At Daikin America, Inc. (DAI), every employee is responsible for excellence in the performance of our Safety, Health, Environmental, and Security (SHES) priorities. DAI is committed toethical leadership and stewardship in SHES activities, and to protect our employees, contractors, customers and community. Our commitment is to continually improve through Safety, Health, Environmental, and Security (SHES) management excellence, including:
- Management commitment and employee participation
- Adherence to the Guiding Principles of Responsible Care® and the elements of OSHA VPP
- Compliance with applicable SHES legislation, regulations and other requirements
- Openness in dealing with stakeholders, taking into account public and employee inputs
- Reduction of injuries and illnesses
- Analysis of worksites and processes for appropriate Process Safety Management controls
- Prevention of pollution
- Reduction of wastes
- Achieving minimal adverse environmental impact on the air, land, and water
- Stewardship of raw materials and finished products throughout the supply chain
- Support of education and research on SHES impacts of our products and processes
- Assessment of security vulnerability for appropriate security controls
- Training on Safety, Health, Environmental and Security priorities
- Monitoring, reporting, reviewing performance with appropriate leading and lagging indicators
Each individual must be committed, and has the responsibility to support DAI goals to achieve an injury, illness and accident-free workplace, ensure security and to protect the environment. This commitment is a condition of continuing employment.
