Background

The ACT Government will waive the disposal fees for Mr Fluffy houses. This procedure documentshow to arrange the disposal of a Mr Fluffy property.

The West Belconnen Resource Management Centre is currently the only facility receiving the Mr Fluffy houses. Small quantities of material may be directed to Mugga Lane Resource Management Centreat the discretion of the ACT NOWaste project officer.

Procedure

Preliminary steps: Demolition of these premises is not covered by this procedure.

Step 1: Disposal

  1. Download thedisposal form from the Transport Canberra and City Services website.
  2. Complete the form. The transport company should be able to assist in providing an estimate of the quantity of material.
  3. Submitthe form via email to least five days prior to your preferred disposal dates.
  4. One disposal form is required for each house.
  5. An ACT NOWaste officer will be in touch to discuss final disposal arrangements and dates.
  6. You will then be advised of the project disposal code.
  7. If the asbestos assessor has advised that any loose contaminated material or goods are be disposed of separately to the main disposal you will be given instructions on how to do this. Material taken to Mugga without prior approval may not be able to obtain the waiver of their disposal fees for that material.
  8. Please note that in the case of unavoidable operational safety issues, such as rain or high winds, disposals may be stopped or postponed at short notice.

Penalties

NOWaste is required to give its contractors a minimum of 24 hours notice of a change or cancellation of a disposal. Failure to give this notice may mean NOWaste contractors pass on standown costs. In this situation NOWaste may seek to recover the costs from the applicant. Currently the charge for opening the site is up to $7,340 ex GST.

All disposals at West Belconnen Resource Management Centre are by prior arrangement only. If material is sent to West Belconnen Resource Management Centre without notice, it will be denied access.
