Course format:

I will make brief remarks during first part of class then we’ll have a work period, then a wrap-up. Questions and sharing about quizzes is definitely encouraged – but will be kept to the first 15 minutes of class time. Additional questions should be taken to CASA Tutoring (222 Garrison).

In this course, you do all the class work in small groups. You and your group go to the board to show your solutions to the problems. It’s important to change groups regularly so if need be I’ll be assigning groups for some sessions. Turning in the class participation form with all names from the group is what the participation grade is based on.

Each presentation should include a discussion of your strategy – this is critical and where the bulk of your points come in.

The quizzes have inflexible due dates on Wednesday at 11:59pm. Please be sure to mark them in your calendar. Sometimes more than one quiz is due on a given Wednesday. See “Quiz Calendar” below for the dates.

You have 20 tries for each quiz; only your highest score will be kept for grading. The quizzes are available online 24/7. Please take printouts of the quizzes to CASA Tutoring for help – there is plenty of white space on them when printed out! Access the quizzes through your CourseWare account under “online assignments”.

Working in groups on quizzes is allowed BUT be sure you understand the material. Quizzes and in-class material are where the test questions come from.

The midsemester and the final will be held in CASA Testing by appointment. Reservations are accessed through your CourseWare account under “proctored assignments”. Reservations open about 10 days before the first testing day.

The midsemester is March 8, 9, and 10.

The final is May 7, 8, 9.
