PRIZM Creative Communitypresents a special Exhibition about the history of art in NW OHIO, during it’s11th Annual Art-A-Fair exhibit. “BREAKING GROUND: A Retrospective of Progress,” will open on Sat. March the 25th with a reception from 3-6 pm at the 5/3 Building at One Seagate (550 N. Summit St.) and remain on display thru Thursday May the 25th. The two month exhibit features over 350 works by nearly 90 Artists from the past and present over a span of 150 years. Audiences will be delighted to celebrate the culture of our region by witnessing the foundation created by dedicated early pioneers, while witnessing the progression of today’s professionals and up and coming talent who continue to “Break Ground.” This exhibit will enable our community to appreciate the visionary legacy we have received, applaud the accomplishments of our area professionals, and look toward the future with hope as we witness new and upcoming talent. Viewing hours are Monday-Fridays from 8 a.m. - 7p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 12-6 p.m.
Just a few of the represented artists include: Israel Abramofsky, Dominick Labino, Earl North, Ruskin Stone, Edith Franklin, Wil Clay, Walter Chapman, Pete Beckman, Bernadine Stetzel, Robert Mazur, Leslie Adams, Tom Muir, Jack Schmidt, Matt Paskiet, David Eichenberg, Amy Beeler, Emanuel Enriquez, Michael Sheets, Robert Garcia, Shawn Messenger, Lindsay Scypta, Denis Chalwick, Kathryn Housepian, Judy Paschalis, and many more!
The Opening event on Sat. Mar. 25thwill include great food, an enticing raffle with original artworks, live entertainment by the Toledo School for the Arts Jazz Ensemble, and a celebration of the many PRIZM volunteers who have made this event possible. Appreciation is expressed to the event sponsors, The Ohio Arts Council, The Blade, Buckeye Broadband, Library House Galleries, and many PRIZM supporters. Also special appreciation is given to One Seagate Partners, and The Arts Commission of Toledo for use of the building and display panels.
Two additional events at the exhibition are planned for the 3rd Thursday evening in April and May to coincide with The Arts Commission’s Art Loop evenings. In addition to the chance to view the over 350 piece fine art and literature exhibition, refreshments and entertainment will be provided each evening. On April the 20th, Delta Blues Guitarist Jimmy Lambert, AKA Light Brown Jimmy will delight audiences with his classic guitar favorites. On Thursday May the 18th, at 6:30 p.m. PRIZM will feature an “Open Mic in the Glass City event,” featuring live readings by our area authors.
