Prior Learning or prior work -Credit Transfer Policy
BC Government, in response to lobbying from the hair industry has removed the requirement for 1500hrs of schooling, effective as of January 2004.
That combines the value of school-based training with prior work.
- If you have been training in Beauty school from your own country with diploma or certificate.
Or
- If you have worked in a salon in the past for at least 1800 hrs or over, in your own country or Canada. You may be eligible to receive a 540 hrs credit.
RoggendorfSchool will offer you a Practical & Theory test.
Grading System: you must achieve at least 75% to qualify for prior learning credit.
If you qualify, you can speed up 540 hrs in 3 ½ months. Instead of graduating in 10 months full time hair training you can, train full time and graduate in 6 months.
- Fill form to request speeding up graduation.
- Complete hands on practical test on your model – 75 % to pass
3. Complete the Theory test –Using multiple-choice type question system.-75% to pass
4. Salon owner must fill out feedback form and student must return it back to school. (If applicable)
Prior learning test needs to be completed before you joiningthe program.
It is the student’s responsibility to arrange your models for testing (man and lady).

Section 2 – Haircutting ( 30% ) Total 2 cuts in 120 min
Technical Men hair cut – 40 min with Mannequin or live model (Interior with uniform or Square form. Exterior with clipper cut or shear over comb )
- Demonstrates 1 inch or more removed 2 %
- Blended interior 3%
- Tapered perimeter 2%
- Clean perimeter and arch line ( ear )2%
- Balanced to the model both side2%
- Scissor/clipper over comb techniques 2%
