  1. DESCRIPTION

This course is designed to teach students basic computer skills and applications with an emphasis on problem-solving. They will learn the basic components of a computer and its workings in addition to Microsoft Office Suite computer applications programs for word processing (Word), spreadsheets (Excel), desktop publishing (Publisher), databases (Access), and presentation (PowerPoint) applications.

30% Major projects, tests

60% Daily assignments, quizzes

10% Homework/class participation

  1. EXPECTATIONS

Students will be responsible for completing all assignments, homework, and projects ON TIME. Students are responsiblefor taking the initiative to make up assignments they may have missed due toabsences.All make up work must be completed within the number of days the student was absent.

ABSOLUTELY NO FOOD, GUM, CANDY, OR DRINKS (INCLUDING WATER) ALLOWED IN THE COMPUTER LAB.

ANY INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR ON THE COMPUTER WILL RESULT IN STUDENT BEING REMOVED FROM THE COMPUTER AND UNABLE TO RETURN UNTIL A PARENT IS NOTIFIED.

If the rules listed are not followed the following consequences will occur:

Before entering classroom:

Use the restroom

When you first enter the classroom:

Be seated in assigned seat

Have homework/assignment ready to turn in

Begin warm-up on board

Late Work:

Late work is accepted for 70% credit (except for an excused absence)

When bell rings at end of period:

Return books, papers, folders, and headphones in their rightful place

Pick up any trash, etc.

Leave ONLY when I dismiss you, the bell does not dismiss you.
