Prime Minister Supports Radio Christmas
Radio Christmas returns to the airwaves this Christmas and the Amersham-based charity radio station is looking for presenters, news readers, advertisers, sponsors and general helpers. Starting at 6am on 1st December, this year’s Radio Christmas promises to be bigger and better than ever! It has even received a message of support from the Prime Minister, David Cameron.
The schedule will include regular breakfast and drive-time presenters and a daily two-hour community show, which will include special guests such as the local mayor, local MP and a BBC newsreader. Duncan Dyason, founder of Radio Christmas and the Street Kids Direct charity it supports, comments, “We are really excited for Radio Christmas this year. We have lots of new shows, some big ideas and some fantastic community involvement with events like the Amersham Christmas Showcase and the Big Give. As ever we are looking for lots of people young and old to come and help and find out first hand what it’s like to be part of a live radio station.”
In the lead up to the launch of Radio Christmas, the station is inviting businesses to get involved with advertising or sponsorship. Duncan adds, “Every single penny of every single donation made to Radio Christmas goes directly to the projects supported by Street Kids Direct. Nobody is paid and there are no admin fees. However, putting on a radio station does require us to pay for licenses and equipment so we invite businesses to benefit from our high listenership by advertising. Anyone interested please get in touch through our web site.”
He concludes, “We were also delighted to receive a message from David Cameron this year. He will be releasing a specially recorded Christmas message for radio Christmas. We are excited to get this level of support for our work and hope that his message will add weight to our appeal to make a difference in the lives of some of the poorest children in Latin America.”
Other exciting projects include a Street Kids Direct calendar made up of photos taken by 7-year-old Jesus on the rubbish dump of La Terminal in Guatemala City. Calendars are available through the web site for just £7 (
Anyone wishing to get involved with Radio Christmas please get in touch through the website.
