Job Summary

At GATR Truck Center, we believe in quality. From the trucks, truck parts and service we provide, to the people we employ. We are your three- time Volvo Dealer of the Year and we currently have five locations throughout Minnesota and Iowa to service our customers. We are looking for a Service Advisor to join our GATR of Sauk Rapids team.

Primary duties will consist of but not be limited to:

  • Treat customers with courtesy, respect and in accordance with company policies.
  • Greet all customers that enter the service area.
  • Discuss with customers estimated of cost repairs/maintenance work that is to be provided and estimated time when truck will be completed.
  • Advise customers of any outstanding recalls or service programs that need to be completed and of any preventative maintenance or additional repairs that are needed.
  • Secure agreement from customer on the repairs to be performed before any work is started.
  • Write legible and complete repair orders by asking good diagnostic questions to identify customer needs/concerns and record the information accurately.
  • Enter all incoming repair orders into scheduling system in the order in which they are received.
  • Identify repair orders that require special handling, such as rush, customer waiting, special problem, comeback, etc.
  • Continual follow up on status of repairs to assure that truck will be ready when promised.
  • Advise customers of status of repairs and any delays if truck will not be finished when promised.
  • Get authorization from customer when estimate of costs needs to be changed.
  • Contact customer for approval if additional repairs or maintenance is needed
  • Contact customer within three days after truck is repaired to assure satisfaction with repairs.
  • Interpret warranty information and policies to customers.
  • Provide all documents for warranty claims to the Warranty Administrator in a timely manner.
  • Be up-to-date on technical and performance information on all vehicles serviced by GATR.
  • Answer telephone service inquiries.
  • Maintains close working relationships with Service Clerk on scheduling of repairs, and shop foremen and technicians on status of repairs and quality control.
  • Keep service manager informed of all problems and potential problems involving repairs, customers and equipment.
  • Coordinate service specials with Parts Operation on a consistent basis.
  • Keep write-up area clean, neat and orderly. Purge and update computer files as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Computer literate
  • Familiarity with terminology and service of heavy vehicles
  • Strong oral and written communications skills required
  • Possess superior customer service skills
  • Ability to work with others in solving problems
  • Excellent organizational skills required
