‘National Pride’ Talk

Continue to work on your talk – practise, practise, practise!

You are going to have 3 weeks to prepare for this. You will be presenting your talk the week beginning 26th March. Your talk is on national pride. What makes us proud to be part of Scotland or Great Britain? Think of one area and explain why this is so. Could it be to do with sports (Olympics or other major sporting events), Scottish heritage (local dialect), our history, days in the calendar (St Andrew’s Day), national anthems or anything else you can think of that makes you proud to be part of Scotland or the UK. We also have some pupils in our class who aren’t from the UK – could you educate us on national pride from your home country – I am very intrigued to know!!!

Your talk needs to be 1-2 minutes long and should include some sort of visual aid. This could be in the form of a poster, PowerPoint, SWAY or video. It’s up to you!

Some tips/ advice:

-Don’t copy information straight from the internet. Put it into your own words.

-Practise your talk at home. Practise speaking slowly, changing the tone of your voice, looking at your audience.

-Be creative with your visual aid!

My biggest piece of advice is…Don’t wait until the week before to start planning your talk! Give yourself plenty of time and then practise, practise, practise!

Do ask if you are unsure about anything. It’s always a good idea to do that before Thursday.
